"Great location, good hotel"

La Quinta hotels can be nice or a little sketchy at times. This was the nicest La Quinta we have stayed in. The girls at the front counter were very welcoming, had good suggestions and helped with directions. The room was larger than other standard hotel rooms and four adults had no issues with space. The only complaint would be that the cleaning staff never came by and we had to call down for towels a few times. When we mentioned it they had said they were still doing the rounds ( it was 4 pm) so not really sure what happened there. Also the air conditioner didn't seem to get quite cold enough but was ok. But we only stayed two nights and the location was close enough to walk to most things and the streetcars run very close by also.
When we arrived and pulled up next to the inn I went in and asked how to get valet parking. The nice lady at the desk said to go out front and ask the valets, that they would probably take it around for me. The head valet who seemed to be more interested in texting on his cell phone told me to pull it around which involved going all the way around the block because of the one way streets (I am not familiar with NOLA). When I asked him how to get there he looked at me like I was crazy. The room was fine for an older hotel. My only real complaint was that housekeeping never came and serviced our room after the first night so we arrived back late at night to find no clean towels or cups for coffee, water, etc. The people at the front desk were very, very nice and helpful. It is a several block walk to Canal Street to get to the French Quarter. It's not bad if you don't mind walking but you can't pop in and out. It was the closest we could get because of Tulane graduation had everything sold out.
Breakfast very simple (but includes waffles, which you however have to make yourself)
Location is perfect!
Check-in not very welcoming.
Window in room cannot be opened.
In general ok hotel, but would prefer to pay a bit more for a bigger chain hotel.
The ladies who work at the front desk are very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and professional - they made our vacation extremely enjoyable. I regret that we didn't write down their names as they deserve recognition!
Came to N.O. for 3 days just for a quick getaway. Wanted a place close to the French Quarter and we found a jewel in the La Quinta. 2 Block from the quarter, 4 blocks from the Mississippi. Nice, spacious rooms. Front desk staff very friendly. Nice continental breakfast. Nice pool on 5th floor outside (still a little to cool to use in May). Made our trip very enjoyable.
