"nice hotel----good price"

stayed there to see son at fort carson he was just minutes away from hotel. good location for shopping and eating also central location for activities. wake up to the view of the mountians. just for your information they do allow pets so if you object to this seek other options for housing. we were told that some cars had been broken into recently at this hotel but we had no problems just parked by the hotel near some of the outside lights.

"Beware of hotel's air conditioning policy"
1 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 13, 2014
Jerry A | Lubbock, Texas
My wife and I stayed in August, 2014. The location was fine - close to a lot of outdoor activities with several dining options in the neighborhood. As far as the room goes, it was a typical LaQuinta - An older hotel room with some minor maintenance issues and limited breakfast options. What made my stay unacceptable was the air conditioning. I like it cold when I sleep. In fact, one of the reasons I was visiting Colorado Springs was to get away from the heat in Texas. Unfortunately, LaQuinta decided that it would be a good idea to limit how cool the a/c could get. Additionally, the a/c seemed to shut off during the night and stop cooling. You would think that with temperatures in the low 50's outside that our room would cool off anyway, but we were on the 6th floor and heat rises. Around 2:00 am I woke up hot and miserable. I called the front desk to ask what could be done and the desk clerk IMMEDIATELY knew what to do... What was the fix? Why, there was a SECRET CODE of course! Pressing and holding one button on the thermostat while sequentially pressing 2 others would give me VIP access to the "REAL" air conditioner settings. From that point the a/c temp could be lowered and it would run all night instead of shutting off. Needless to say, I was VERY upset that my sleep was interrupted and I had to call and complain in order to get my a/c to work the way it should have in the first place. By the fact that the front desk clerk immediately knew about the secret code indicates that I am not the only one who has had this complaint. What is management thinking? SERIOUSLY! Isn't your comfort during the night the NUMBER ONE thing you stay in a hotel for? Are you paying for the pool? Or the decor? Or the cable TV? All of those things are great, but SLEEP COMFORT IS THE PRIORITY! Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again.

"Worst LaQuinta stay EVER"
1 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 12, 2014
SStone1008 | Oklahoma
First, I would like to say that my husband and I are frequnt visitors to laquinta properties and have stayed at locations all over the United States. so, when passing though Colorado Springs it was natural for us to choose to stay at LaQuinta. I called the LaQuinta after finding the location on the iPad app. I was able to make swift reservations over the phone. However, upon arrival it became clear that our stay at this location was the opposite of any stay we have ever had with LaQuinta. Upon arrival there was NO one to be seen at the front desk, I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come out of the back room after ?ringing the bell for service? which was concerning. After someone came to the front I was swiftly assigned a room, but was just handed the keys with no information about where the room was, what entrance to use, information about time that breakfast was served, really NO information- just slid the keys across the counter. We were assigned a room in this non-smoking hotel. However, the room and the hallways reeked of cigarette smoke so strongly that our luggage smelled of smoke when we left. My husband purchased a drink from the canteen area but when he got to our room he realized that the drink had already been opened!! The room we were given was not clean, when we walked in it appeared that the maids had just made the bed, and this was later validated. The floor was not vacuumed and had visible debris all over the floor. What we found to be the most disturbing was that when climbing into bed for the evening and pulling back the sheets there were hairs all over the fitted sheet along with stains that appeared to be bodily fluid there was also visible mildew covering parts of the sheets. THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE. As a customer we at LEAST deserve clean sheets to sleep on when paying over $130 a night. We were traveling with our small child or I would have packed our things and left immediately for another hotel. I am very disapointed in this LaQuinta location and hope that the management address these issues as I have sent them to their corporate offices. We will not stay at this location again and would discourage travelers from stopping. This location is NOT up to the LaQuinta standard. How disapointing.

"Decent, clean"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 5, 2014

Pros: Clean, close to highway, bright. Cons: room smelled like old shoes until a/c was turned on, limited luggage carts, shady area (sign at front desk warns of car break-ins, appears that my credit card has been charged twice so I now must call, "breakfast" limited, saw multiple people (including my wife) get burned by the waffle iron when grabbing the handle. Wouldn't return...too many other choices.

"Less Than Average Hotel"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 5, 2014
Jaimee J | Lamar, Colorado
My husband was transferring jobs and needed a hotel close to work. He chose this one for location and fairly low cost. My daughter and I have visited him several times and are less than impressed. The staff is unfriendly and not very helpful. Rooms are average, and not very clean. TV only has a few select channels. It is a pet friendly hotel, so be prepared to hear dogs barking (and children screaming) at all hours of the night...and be prepared to have the staff not do anything about it. The pool is outdoors, and being in a Colorado, in the mountains, the water is always freezing. We have stayed at several La Quinta Hotels, and I will say this hotel is not the norm. Other same chain hotels have been better.
