Perfectly located, with all amenities you would need, including free wi-fi with good speed. I believe with a bit more motivating management, even cleaning staff would get effective, all it needs is a good spring cleaning

"False advertising about airport shuttle bus!"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 8, 2014
Iconoclast526 | Seoul, South Korea
On July 27th, my wife and I flew from Incheon, Korea to Dallas Fort Worth, and then on to Miami. After traveling for almost an entire day, we were looking forward to a good night?s sleep at La Quinta Inn & Suites-Miami Airport West. Several weeks earlier, I had booked a night?s lodging at this hotel. I chose it because the cost was low, they offered a free breakfast, and they operated a free shuttle to and from Miami Airport. Their website stated that the airport shuttle was in operation from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Our flight arrived in Miami around 9:30 p.m. By the time we collected our luggage and went outside to wait for the La Quinta shuttle bus, it was a little after 10:00 p.m. We were exhausted from traveling and were anxious to get on the shuttle bus and go to our hotel. We waited and waited at the shuttle bus area. We must have seen 15 various airport shuttles go by, but there was no shuttle for La Quinta Inn. I went back inside the airport and called the hotel to ask about the shuttle. The young lady at La Quinta Inn said, ?Oh, the shuttle stops running at 9:30 p.m.? I was in a state of shock. Had I read the advertisement on their website correctly? We had no choice but to take a taxi. This La Quinta Inn is called an airport hotel, so I assumed that we would arrive quickly. However, it took the taxi driver over 20 minutes to get there. He took the expressway, but I wondered if there was a faster way. The taxi fare was over $27, but I just gave him $30 even. When we went inside the hotel, there was one staff person behind the desk. I complained about the lack of an airport shuttle. Then I asked if there were any luggage carts because we had several pieces of luggage. The young lady said, ?Yes, we have luggage carts.? I looked around and didn?t see any, so I said, ?Well, I don?t see any.? She responded, ?Oh, people take them upstairs and don?t bring them back.? She did not volunteer to get a luggage cart for me, and I didn?t even know where to look for one. I asked, ?Well, could you get one for me?? Finally, she said okay, and then she went to look for one. After a few minutes, she returned with one, and we went to our room. In our room, I noticed that there was a brochure about the hotel?s services. I checked the section about the airport shuttle, and it stated that the shuttle ran until 11:00 p.m. I also checked the printout that I had from the hotel?s website, and it stated 11:00 p.m. as well. We had a decent night?s sleep at the hotel, and a nice free breakfast the next morning. Our TV did not work, but we were so exhausted that it didn?t matter. I was still angry about the lack of a shuttle bus and having to pay $30 for a taxi. I had every intention of sending a bill to La Quinta Inn for the $30 taxi ride. However, when we got ready to check out, to our surprise, the hotel staff person apologized to us for the inconvenience, and she gave us a credit of $28 on our hotel bill. The credit virtually covered the taxi fare, and I?m not going to quibble about the remaining $2. In the morning, we took the airport shuttle, which turned out to be a van, to Miami Airport. It took a full 15 minutes to get there, leading me to believe that, while this La Quinta Inn is called an airport hotel, it is not as close to the airport as one might think. In conclusion, this hotel is less expensive than other hotels in the area, and it has a free breakfast. However, it is still about 15 minutes from the airport, and the hotel shuttle does not operate for as many hours as other hotel shuttles. I see now that this hotel has changed their website advertisement to state that the airport shuttle operates from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. However, I wonder if this change is even correct. The staff person at La Quinta told me that the airport shuttle only operates until 9:30 p.m. I hope that La Quinta Inn management can see from our experience a vivid and practical example of the trouble that is caused for the traveling public when hotel management does review its own advertisements seriously. While I appreciate the fact that La Quinta gave us a discount that covered our taxi fare, it would have been much better to have posted accurate advertising to begin with. Also, in light of my disappointing conversation about the luggage cart, perhaps there could be a little more training about customer service. Finally, I suggest that La Quinta put a sign on its luggage carts that states, ?Please return this luggage cart to the first floor.? Closing quote: In every organization, everything rises and falls on leadership.

Friendly staff, great bed and nice location. Carpets turned my feet black and need to be shampooed. Room phone did not work and was not repaired even after notifying clerk. Horribly slow internet for entire 2 week stay forced me to relocate to another Hotel chain.

If you want to get profiled as Hispanic just because you have dark hair and eyes; awoken in the middle of the night by a lunatic demanding you are in their room; threatened to get the police called; fight to get a waffle; relax in a cold hot-tub; get food delivered that is not edible and run the risk of Identity Theft - THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!

Stayed for one night. Front desk personnel extremely rude and careless. Room was ok. Breakfast included was acceptable. Hotel location was fairly close to Miami airport. Rate was overpriced for service rendered. Van was not ready for departure.
