"Addendum and upgrade to an earlier review 01/28/2013"

In an earlier review I had noted that this wasn't the best La Quinta. My main complaint was that even though I had a no smoking room, apparently the smoking rooms were nearby and the smoke was choking and hall noise was a problem...
My crew and I stayed there again the week of 05/13/2013 and I specifically asked for rooms away from the smoking section. As it turns out, the smoking rooms are on the 2nd floor (as was my original non-smoking room). We had rooms on the 4th floor for this trip and found no smoke odor what so ever. Additionally there was little to no hall noise.
This trip was more like what I expect from LaQuinta. Overall very nice for a decent rate.
Someone had noted that it is not easy to find. That is correct. It is not hard to get to but is fairly hard to find the first time. GPS will get you there but we tried 3 different units and they all gave us odd routes.
Double check your directions, it is not directly off of the main street, but other initially finding it, that was a Good Thing, The hotel sits back in a nice wooded area. The room and the sleep quality was very nice. The lobby breakfast was so-so. But as with most of my business or personal trips, when I am in a location for several days, and the room has a refrigerator, then I find a grocery store and bring in some fresh fruits for breakfast in the room
My daughter and I visited Raleigh-Durham to go to the Duke Lemur Center. The LaQuinta was an easy choice. The only downside was hot weather and no pool access (it didn't open yet). In addition to a great place and breakfast this specific LaQuinta employs Tyler at the front desk. He really made our trip special and positive!
I love this place!!! The colors are beautiful! Peaceful area and convenient to the area shopping centers! The check-in process is very efficient! The beds are very comfortable. I had convenient access to my room. I would definitely stay here again every chance I get whether for business or pleasure!
I have stayed here several times since my dad suffered a stroke in November 2012. This hotel is convenient to Rex Hospital; the hospital is less than a mile away. It is a good home to come home to after spending a long day at the hospital with a loved one.
The front-desk staff are VERY friendly, accommodating, and professional, as well as fast and efficient. I appreciate the fact that they always remember my name/face and treat me like family when I return for a visit. The rooms are always clean and well-maintained, and the beds are very comfortable.
This is a well-run, well-managed hotel, and I whole-heartedly recommend it. Good value for your money. And, it's great that it is pet-friendly, too! - J.M. Upchurch
