"Great location, Average room"

We frequently stay at La Quinta wherever we go, but this was the first time we stayed at this particular hotel. The room was exactly what I expect out of La Quinta - clean with the essentials, but not a lot of extras.
This hotel is setup strangely with a courtyard in the middle where the parking/parking garage is. Our room faced the courtyard and it was loud a few times because of this. (There was a biker rally in Austin during our stay, so that didn't help any.) Also, it is valet only so it will cost you an additional $13 a night on top of your room rate. Valet can be slow and get backed up, so be sure to allow plenty of time to get your car when you're ready to leave.
The best part of this hotel is the location. It is within easy walking distance to the capital and to 6th street. We walked to both on Friday night and felt very safe.
Since this hotel is downtown, beware of street closures. We had a difficult time getting to the hotel due to 11th street being closed. Luckily, it opened back up soon after we got to the area, otherwise I'm not sure how we would have made it to the hotel.
Not the worst hotel but certainly not the best. When everything else is booked up downtown, there is usually availability here. The staff is very nice. The rooms a adequate in terms of cleanliness but not immaculate. If you need a place to stay downtown and sleep in a hurry, this is the place to select.
Our toilet wouldn't work the whole time we were there and we asked maintenance to fix it twice. Good location though and fairly attentive staff. For what you pay, it's pretty average. Don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
"Great place and close to all locations of interest"

We went to the Erwin center and was a good price and close to it also close to other locations nearby the hotel. The hotel was cleaner that alot of others I have been to. The price was good and the only thing about breakfast was that it should be and hour longer. Other than that it was a great room.
I've always used this hotel when traveling in Austin. I enjoy the hospitality and a friendly smile. Elevator is hot in the summer and accommodations are a bit on the small side but, overall I've always had a satisfying restful experience.
