"Close to downtown for a decent price"

Stayed here kind of last minute weren't able to find a decent price on a downtown hotel so we decided to stay at La Quinta. It was run down and has seen better days for sure but we were really only there to sleep. The pool didnt look to attractive water wasnt clear and it is in little fenced in area we didnt swim at all. They only have double beds which most probably know about staying at La Quinta. It is about 15 minute walk over the bridge to the Rockies Stadium which was nice. There a couple places to eat right around the hotel that we enjoyed. If staying downtown on a budget and dont want/care about the nicest hotel then you probably wont mind. I have stayed at other La Quintas that were definitely ALOT cleaner and well kept.
Great location. Close to Coors field, Pepsi Center, Downtown, 16th street mall, Elitches. Great service and staff. Rooms were comfortable. Good value for your money. Great access to I-70, I-25. Great place to stay.
Bottom line first: This "hotel" gives La Quinta a bad name. Dirty, loud, and not pleasant in any way. Pay attention to the negative reviewers because they are right.
Details: I should have paid more attention to the reviews here. I booked two nights at this hotel to be close to downtown Denver without paying too much money. Big mistake. I checked in at 5:00 p.m., unlocked the door to my room, and found the beds unmade and the room reeking of cigarette smoke. As I walked back to the lobby I noticed how dirty and beat up the stairwells and walkways looked. This hotel looked like it was built in the late 1970s/early 1980s, and not well-maintained on the outside. The guy behind the front desk apologized about the room, and assigned me to another one. At least the next one had been cleaned, but the stale cigarette smoke smell was as strong. The room was clean. The train noise that others have mentioned was definitely audible, but it did not keep me awake as I am a sound sleeper. I set my mobile phone's alarm for 7:00 a.m. I was quite surprised when I woke up at 5:30 a.m. to the next door room's clock radio. It was incredibly loud, and alternating between hip-hop and static. Yuck. After waiting about 10 minutes for someone in the room to turn it off, I put on my clothes and walked to the lobby. The guy behind the desk apologized, but he said that someone was in the room according to hotel records. He could not contact that person and ask them to turn off the radio alarm. La Quinta corporate policy? Denver policy?? This guy's made-up policy??? I don't know. I left, took a shower, dressed, packed, and walked over to the nearby Starbucks for coffee and breakfast. I returned to my room and the clock radio was still going. No change. It had been going for 1 1/2 hours. I checked out and told them I would not be staying for the second night. The grandmotherly-like woman behind the desk was quite dismayed and apologetic when I told her why I was checking out early. I suspect that she has had plenty of experience being apologetic to past guests of this horrible La Quinta Inn.
Don't stay here. The proximity to downtown Denver is simply not worth it.
This place is an absolute dump. We stayed there about 4 nights and it was no a pleasureable experience whatsoever. The only cool part about the place is that the guy at the front desk is so stoned he has no idea whats going on. The first time we opened the door to our room, it smelled like dirty shoes and sediment. The smell never changed and we would try and leave the door/window open, but it wouldn't go away. The bathroom is small, dirty, and the toilet didn't flush properly/leaked. The wifi in the room sucks and it takes about 30+ minutes to get onto one website. Forget about even sleeping at this place because all you hear all night are noises that sound like freight trains colliding and failing off the tracks loaded with explosives. Since there is a nearby train yard, trains will literally come through the station about every 3.5 seconds and this continues all through the night. The view is hideous unless you are obsessed with freight trains. The continental breakfast is bascially just waffles or bust because everything else is awful. I'd rather stick my entire body in hot oil before I'd stay at this place again. Only good things are the mcdonalds express next door and the fact that it's only a 4-5 minute cab ride into downtown. Spend the extra coin and stay downtown.
We stayed here for one night while attending an NHL game. The price was very reasonable. We didn't expect a five star room. But I was definitely surprised when walking in. It looked like the bathroom was newly remodeled and some other things had been done as well. For the price I would say it was more than expected. I encountered two different people at the front desk during our stay and they were friendly and courteous. The free breakfast had more than a few options. It wasn't huge, but big enough to have plenty of different options. This hotel has a very good location if someone was going to explore the city more. I would stay here again.
