We stayed here previously in 2010 and wasnt all that impressed then. We like to stay at LaQuinta's because of their pet friendly policy. We were very disappointed with the quality of the room and the building. The front desk staff was inatttentive to us and we had the feeling that we were botherthing them by checking in. We were surprised with the poor quality of the room. The bathroom was dirty and not dirty in the aspect that it hadn't been cleaned after the previous guest it was dirty like it hadn't been cleaned well after several guests. The same could be said for the rest of the room. The bedding was at best lowest grade and thread count. For the price we paid I expected better. It would have been nice to be told that we are forced to pay for the waterpark even if we didn't use it. This LaQuinta is not even an option for us in the future.

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very helpful front desk clerk. We got a king suite which was nice size wise. Within 15 minutes the front desk called to confirm things were ok with the room. At that point there were no complaints. We ate downstairs in the restaurant on site and food was average. No mint for mojitos during our 4 day stay- really no store carries it? Breakfast was same day after day so we went elsewhere. Ok now the room upon closer inspection- makeup on bathroom counter, stained carpet, dirty bedspread and 1 bar of soap and 1 washcloth and no Kleenex. We had to request soap and shampoo and they did not restock the coffee, took away the extra soap and shampoo. The on site restaurant does offer an excellent pizza and Reuben. Rib eye steak was mainly fat but taste was good for what little meat it had. Beware of the $7.95 water park/resort fee tacked onto your bill especially if you don't use it. Really doubt I would ever try another one of these unless traveling with our dog.

This hotel is located near all the places and attractions we wanted to visit on our vacation. The best part was spending the evening at the indoor water park relaxing and enjoying the great food and beverages offered by the hotels restaurant (Sliders) while the children played. Will definitely stay at this hotel again!

I travel with my dog. I stay at LQ for one reason.......they accept pets without question. They make you feel like your pet is part of the family. Not so at LQ/Rapid City. I was asked if I was traveling with a pet when I reserved and again when I checked in. The reason: They were grouping the pet owners in one wing of the first floor. The bad news: the rooms smelled like flea spray. It was disgusting. Ill never stay here again, and if im ever asked if Im traveling with a pet........it will be a huge red flag. I just stayed in three LQ's in a row and 2 out of 3 were sub-par.

The hotel was clean and obviously very family-friendly. The hotel is attached to an indoor waterpark. The hotel is promoted as 100% smoke free, but it is also 100% pet friendly. I wasn't aware of this when I booked and prepaid the weekend. When I was checking in, I saw 4 families either entering with their dogs or walking around the parking area. I requested a non-pet, allergen-free room and they said that wasn't an option. The hotel did a good job of posting signs about "Quiet Zones" but there were so many kids running around and hall noise from early morning until after 10:00 on Saturday night. If you are looking for a peaceful night and have any pet issues, I would say avoid this place. If you have a family, the attached waterpark, looked quite fun. The staff does a good job keeping the place clean and accommodating. They have a fenced pet play area off the back side.
