When we arrived, the parking lot was full of work trucks. It looked like a place that many of the refinery or industry workers stay at while they're working. The lobby was nice, and the hostess at the entry was very nice, contentious, and punctual. She offered us things to do in the greater Port Arthur/ Beaumont area. We booked in advance online through TripAdvisor. When we arrived we learned that the room we had booked wasn't available. So we ended up staying in the handicapped room, which was just fine. It needed a little TLC, a new coat of paint in the bathroom, and a shampooing of the carpets should be in order. I would recommend this La Quinta, overall for the money it was sufficient. It just needed some touchups. The breakfast was one of the better meals I've had at any hotel.
January 2014, my son & I were caught in the ice storm that blanketed I10. We could not continue on so we pulled in hoping that a room would be available. The management took us in, took me to the nearby airport early the next morning and allowed my son to rest, have breakfast and wait for the ice to melt before continuing on. Could not have stumbled on a better place to rest for the night. Thank You La Quinta and Officer Berry!
It was a good stay, the pool was down but was given several options on where to take the kids swimming by the maintenance man. The day time desk help was NOT very helpful though. The night time staff was great always ask how our day was and wished us a good night. Wish the night crew was working the day shift.
We stayed here in June as my husband was bowling in the State Tournament and this was our first time here. The rooms were so clean and everything was very clean. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows huge. We didn't eat breakfast here but we did drink coffee and it wasn't very good.
As far as the desk, they need some improvement. They were very friendly but lacked customer skills. When we arrived the young lady was on the phone(it sounded like here manager) but didn't acknowledge us until she was off the phone, which seemed like forever but was somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. Then we were told we were too early, we were all of ten minutes. I understand checking in on a Saturday it may take a little longer to get rooms ready, but not when 2 of the housekeeping staff are hanging around the front waiting to talk to an employee who just quit. Also, pay attention to your GPS for directions as there is no entrance from the feeder road in front of the hotel.
They charge 100 a night for average service and terrible internet. I don't stay there unless other hotels are sold out. Avoid it at all cost. Also, try not to be ofended by the vulgar hip hop music being played in the lobby. The accoustics are terrible. Every time the door is closed it will wake you up. It takes 3 to 5 minutes to load Google page to say nothing of CNN site or Netflix. Very disappointing and I am Laquinta returns member
