Breakfast is good
room big, desk (I had king with fridge and..)
The carpet could be cleaner
They are very nice,
Bed is clean
I was told location is bad (area) hotel itself is safe and has camera
But area is scary
First Day: Arrived around 1pm after a long drive from Texas, went to the front desk where 2 ladies were standing, I asked a young lady with black hair (don't recall her name) if i could check in, she snapped and said, "No we don't have any rooms available, come back at 3 pm!" The rudeness was uncalled for, coming back at 3pm, understandable, so off I went to kill time.
Came back and was greeted by Loretta, she was friendly, checked me in the room and told me they had cookies baking in the oven. Took the elevator up, Wow! I am not afraid of elevators but this one was loud and VERY slow, I even heard the cables pulling us up and we don't weigh much at all! This was the last time we used their elevator while we were there, we took the stairs to the third floor each time. Got into the room, saw that the carpets were not very clean and had a lot of spots on them, this is a pet friendly hotel so figured that may be why... went to the bathroom, long black hairs were all over the floor, I called to the front desk she said Housekeepers were gone for the day but she can come up and clean it but didn't know how good of a job she will do,she offered to move me into another room. After bringing all our bags up the stairs and our elevator scare, we decided to clean it up ourselves and stay in the room. We knew we would be busy and only be in the room to sleep so we just settled.
Next morning-Breakfast, everything tasted great, but did notice a lady sweeping the area and picking up trash and then she immediately grabbed a towel and started wiping the tables down, without washing her hands....
Checkout day- I got out of the bed around 5:30 am saw a bed bug, on top of the sheets! I immediately took a picture and wrapped it in the sheets for evidence, went down to check out with Rachel, told her what happened, showed her the picture she said, "Oh, I'm sorry." she did not seem phased by this at all! She told me my total, sign here, and sent me on my way.
I contacted guest services and voiced my complaint, about an hour or so later I got a call from Vicki who was the property manager, she apologized and offered to comp one of my nights, she was friendly and apologetic and honest about the situation, said she will have an exterminator come and check out the room.
The neighborhood- Well behind the hotel it was a little sketchy, which I didn't notice until it was dark, a lot of homeless men talking to themselves, a lot of men out in the streets walking. The location was good for me because it was about 15 minutes from all the activities we were doing.
Overall-Maybe I just had a bad room, I obviously would NEVER come back to this hotel because I experienced my first bed bug. I know bedbugs are even found in upscale hotels, either way this is unacceptable! Next time I know to never settle with a room you are not comfortable in, and I hope the bedbugs are exterminated and it doesn't happen again!
My wife and I opted to stay here based on location/proximity to our trip needs, user reviews and the comparative cost for other hotels in the area. We were very happy with our choice. First, the evening desk gal, Loretta, was fantastic. She helped us get the best rate possible, honored our room request for a top-floor/away from elevators location, and even recommended a great locals-favorite restaurant for us to try (Popo's--we reviewed it too--great food!).
The room was spacious, had a mini-fridge and microwave tucked away in a decorative armoire, a full-length mirror on a closet door, spacious bathroom with great counter space and plenty of towels and the beds were soft with lots of pillows. The room also had a spacious desk with ample plug-ins for phones, laptops, etc. While it doesn't appear to be a new facility, it has been well maintained.
Only drawback keeping this from a 5-star rating was the hall noise. Seems the room door is thin and not well-sealed and other rooms down the corridor had very hard-closing doors that made a lot of noise. Guest voices also carried down the corridor, so sleep was challenging for a light-sleeper.
The continental breakfast was one of the better we've experienced with a wide variety of hot and cold foods, healthy choices and fresh fruit. All in, we'd stay here again, but would ask for a portable room fan to make some white noise for better sleep.
The 2 room suite was great and the overall service was outstanding. The price of the suite was very reasonable. The provided Breakfast was great and the front desk personnel were outstanding. We could not have asked for better service. We will stay there on all of our trips to Phoenix.
Overall pleasant stay- nice appearance, felt safe, clean, comfortable, friendly & helpful staff. Breakfast choices included waffles every day and rotating hot selections of biscuits/gravy, french toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, cereal, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs. Good value.
