This la Quinta hotel is a formula hotel with the usual décor and furniture though this is the probably the reason we chose it. It was clean the breakfast was not special but was good enough. Its location on the edge of town makes it a good walk to the shopping though there is a couple of popular eateries nearby. Moab town itself is small but with several nice shops and restaurants it makes a good base to visit this area. Unfortunately we only had one night but did get to see the fabulous Arches NP. When we arrived we were offered a good room rate ( relatively ) however we had already booked and prepaid through Expedia, so one thing thing I did learn here was that Expedia does not use it's power to get it's customers a better deal ( I think it may get itself a good deal though). In future I think I will contact hotels direct and only book with Expedia if the rate is the same or cheaper. One tip is watch the bottom of your car as you turn in to the hotel of the highway, there is quite a hump.
The hotel staff were very pleasant. The rooms were perfect. There was parking to accommodate a truck and a trailer. But, some people unhitched. We enjoyed everything. It was close to Arches, Canyonlands, and Capitol Reef National Parks. It was also close to Route 128 which followed the Colorado River. Everything was Beautiful.
We stayed there 3 nights to explore Moab and Arches National Park. Love Moab, love the parks, but we were limited with our hotel selection because of our dog. I would rather have stayed closer to the shopping and restaurants especially considering the price for accommodations in Moab. Rooms were clean, pool was decent, but we have stayed all over the US in the last few weeks and compared to the service at other places like Best Western Plus, Fairfield Inn, Residence Inn, this just didn't match up. There was a lack of energy from the staff. They were all polite but nothing stood out. Manager floated around but didn't seem engaged and although she passed me twice she never greeted or acknowledged me. Little nuances just add up including the key cards (which seemed to be a problem with everyone including the staff), day old cold decaf, orange juice machine dispensing water, knob on our closet falls off, etc. Will come to Moab again for sure but will choose another hotel to try something else.
The accommodation is clean but quite basic given the cost at around $180 per night. For this we received a very noisy aircon unit, very gloomy lighting in the bathroom, very slow internet which rejected every outgoing email on each of our 4 different Apple devices (perhaps iPhones and iPads are unknown in Moab?) and paper thin ceilings and walls which meant we awoke when the folks in the room above got up and we could almost hear conversations in the adjoining rooms. It is also worth remarking on the 'loading bay' style front door meaning one either ascends several steps or has to push the luggage cart up a fairly steep ramp. All of this left us feeling we might have chosen somewhere better to stay in Moab!
My stay at the hotel was a good stay. The workers were nice and very friendly. the only two things I could say that I would like to see different are different food for breakfast and I am a regular at the laquinta and I do not like staying in the handicap room.
