"Unclean: Animal Urine"
Reviewed May 20, 2013
ddbeaches | Boston, MA
Summary: Stay here if you would like to pay $180 for a room blanketed in animal urine.
We stayed here in May on short notice after being too tired to drive at night to Hatch. We brought our two dogs.
Pros:
- Had a room available on short notice in Moab.
- Accepts pets (all rooms)
- Easily accessible (like everything else in Moab)
Cons:
- Room covered in urine stains. We walked into the room and our dogs immediately began acting strangely. We have stayed with them in many other hotels and have never seen them act this way. They immediately began sniffing the walls and carpet in the room and became visibly uneasy. They led us to many stains on the walls, carpets, couch cushions that were clearly consistent with urine. After a few seconds in the room the stench of urine hit us as well.
- Staff unwilling to assist with concerns. I brought these concerns up to the front desk and requested to change rooms, but was told that since my girlfriend had showered in the room, they could not move us (at first they said there were no rooms available, but when I said that I was willing to switch to a different room type, they found one). As a pretty seasoned traveller, I have never heard of a hotel respond this way to a complaint about a visibly soiled room.
- Price! $180 for a one-star (zero-star?) hotel in Utah is robbery!
Conclusion: I would have slept in the car if I hadn't tweaked my back the day before, I would have bought a tent if the tent store was open. In the words of the principal in the movie Billy Madison, "I award [the La Quinta Inn Moab] no points and may god have mercy on your soul."
stayed here 2 nights while visiting the parks. good bed, nice size room, really good breakfast included. It is on the south end of town. convenient, just off the main road. seems to be a new hotel. would definitely stay here again.
Great hotel, staff was excellent! Rooms are large and clean. Pool is nice and clean and not many people there.
Walk across the parking lot to the Blu Pig for a great meal.
Highly recommend for business or pleasure.
We arrive late in Moab after a seven hours driving from Vegas.
The welcome was very warw! It was a real pleasure! The location is awsome (just in front of the Moab Brewery) the staff is great and very helpful.
If you never try a La Quinta Inn, two things can convince you: the BEDS!! I long for them. And the breakfast :)
The only minus I could find is the price which was a bit higher than we thought, but it was our falut, we should have paid more attention.
What a difference! LQ has done a great job upgrading and refreshing this motel. Even the breakfast has been improved upon. My husband, our dog and I all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is even a new (paved) walking trail out the back door and over a small hill - it isn't part of LQ, but its accessibility adds to the pet experience, esp. after a long day in the car.
