These rooms got the La Quinta overhaul but the room smelled badly like smoke. I didn't hear the train at all and, as always, the dogs stay free. There was parking for our rig as well. There is also a restaurant in the parking lot.
Stay was average for a La Quinta everything was ok except for the unfortunate train noise problem that most of the motels in Cheyenne have that are located on the main drag. There were no faults otherwise. The problem is the main drag runs parallel to the train tracks and Cheyenne seems to be a rail center. The cost was a bit hit too maybe.
This was the first night of a trip to Georgia and I really needed the rest. The desk clerk was very helpful and friendly when I checked in. The room was large enough for a LQ however, the fixtures and lighting are very outdated and need to be upgraded. The food service area is very small and only allows about 12 people to sit at one time. The outdoor pool is not yet usable and should be enclosed for year-round use in this northern environment. The adjacent railroad tracks did not provide any objections and my wife finds the background noise comforting.
This came up as a cheap option and went for it. Like most hotels in Cheyenne, you get to enjoy the background noise from the interstate. As for the nearby train tracks, it depends on the day/night whether you will hear trains. The first night I heard a couple (not bad, just if you are awake, you will hear them) and none the second night. The location is good, the staff is super friendly and the breakfast was standard and nice. The pool is outdoors and tiny, and at this time of year was frozen solid (yes, I would have drained it before winter too). The hotel is a little dated, but they do keep up with it where they can. If you are on a budget, it isn't a bad option.
I usually stay in LQ if there is one but this hotel was not to standard. Generally tired, full of school kids, room ok, but breakfast noisy, untidy and poor choices. Full of people with pets too so if you would rather avoid a room that's had dogs and cats in it go somewhere else.
