"Hope the renovation goes well"

The renovations look nice, but the attention to detail is not there. There was red paint from the accent wall on the white bathroom door, the shower to bath transition barely works which results in the shower head pressure being poor. There was a night stand with a chip on the edge, a broken outside window pane, and the handicap rails in the bathroom looked old. Also the drain pipe on the bathroom sink was wrapped in insulation which made it an eyesore. Additionally, there was no refrigerator (come one, really?).
The staff there was very friendly though. Hopefully the feedback we gave to the front desk will make a different as the attendant took a lot of notes about our concerns.
Was a little concerned when walking into the building that the hallways were rather dingy and smelly with construction products but our room was recently refurbished and did not have the smell at all, was tidy and clean. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast was fairly standard
Downsides were that our room was at the far end of the building, quite a long way from the lobby and having to walk around and past all the renovation materials and staff. The front entrance of the building was also hard to find as there was a lot of outside construction as well.
Had to go to front desk 4times during Friday-Monday stay for new keys that for some reason might work once or not at all. One time the manager even escorted us to our room to make sure, plus he verified keys didn't work! Stayed in renovated room----very nice. Workers were everywhere....in lobby, new hallway carpets, breakfast area, etc., but staff stayed smiling & upbeat. One major disappointment that I couldn't overlook was that my iPad would not work :(. Evening manager gave me toll free # to call, & I spent 1.5 hours on phone with no success. The next morning when manager's Mac wouldn't connect to wifi either, she deducted our 1st night's charge to reciprocate; a very generous move. Hopefully they'll get that corrected because I couldn't work for 3 days, whereas I've never had a problem at other area hotels, restaurants, etc.
We followed the winding road to our destination and found it to be a popular site with a full parking lot. When we entered we were welcomed and signed in quickly. It was late - so we crawled into our very Comfy beds and slept well. There were some dirty corners in the bathroom that we called managemnt abot and was pleased that they were concerned and assured us the next quest would not run into. The hotel is also making lots of improvements with construction sites going on . . . So I will look forward to my stay next year to check it out.
"Smoke filled lobby not up to la Quinta standards"

I love staying in la quintas and will any chance I get. My husband is disabled so I always request a downstairs room. Most times the honor my request. This time they didn't and there isn't an elevator. Also the lobby reeked of smoke and appeared unclean and worn. It was after 8 pm but I refused to stay there. We had two dogs and had to drive twenty minutes to find another room. I will never make another reservation at this hotel and will be more careful about reading reviews and not just trusting that all la quintas have elevators and high standards as far as cleanliness. I will say the front desk person was very courteous but shame on you la Quinta. Clean up this property!
