"Renovating. Almost done!"

Stayed at LaQuinta Inn on May 15. The remodel is almost complete. Our room was neat and clean. Some smell of new carpet in hallway. Rooms are small but didn't expect a suite. Front desk area was in disarray from remodeling. Front desk personnel tell me they are awaiting drapes and bed skirts. For a mid price hotel not bad.
"Construction and non-working pool should be mentioned on the website."

I booked a two-night stay for May 2 and 3, 2013, at LaQuinta Inn in Midvale, Utah. When we arrived at the hotel, the hotel was remodeling, and the whole place smelled of paint. Also, the whole reason I booked that particular hotel was because it had a pool, which appeared nice in the ad. However, when I arrived, the pool was out of order. I requested that the LaQuinta transfer me to a different hotel, as I felt the construction/non-working pool issues should have been mentioned when I booked. They said they could not help me, since I had booked through Expedia. The Expedia customer service person transferred me to a nearby Crystal Inn, which was a much nicer hotel.
Seriously. You're better off staying at the Motel 6 next door. Stayed here recently in one of the hotel's recently "renovated" rooms and having traveled the globe I can say without a doubt this is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. The room, while recently renovated was filthy -- dirty handprints on the bathroom door, hair in the bathtub, hair all over the bathroom vanity, and a tub that wouldn't drain, so we were forced to shower (in flip flops) nearly knee-deep in water from a tub covered in who knows what. We filed a complaint with the front desk and was told the manager Angela would be in touch -- we've yet to hear from her. Breakfast is complimentary, however after getting barely any sleep worried about what may be crawling on our sheets we really didn't have much of an appetite for the rubbery, grey-yolked hard-boiled eggs and stale raisin bran. We usually stay in LQs when we travel, but this experience definitely has us reconsidering.
"Not a great stay, maybe things will improve with remodel"

We stayed here while our house was being remodeled. Little did we know, the hotel was being remodeled as well, which was not stated on the site where we booked our stay. No pool or hot tub, both things that would have greatly affected my decision to stay there. We were in a remodeled room with fresh paint and new carpet, but the room still had a very gross "dirty" smell. Not sure if it's because it was formerly a smoking room or what, but it was pretty disgusting when you first went in it.
There was carpet ripped up on the stairs up to the second floor, holes in the wall, dust and dirt everywhere. Parts of the hotel blocked off by plastic sheeting. Ice machines that were broken, no fridge or microwave in room. Maid service that was pretty terrible. They didn't even clean the tub one day and left the dirty washcloth in the tub, but put clean towels on the edge of the tub. What??? They didn't vacuum, or at least only did a lazy job of it, as the same crumbs from our Subway dinner stayed on the carpet for two days. The in room coffee maker didn't work, it was missing parts. It was, however, full of coffee that you couldn't make.
The parking was ridiculous, there was a huge semi trailer parked behind the parking for our section of the hotel that you had to try to maneuver around to get into and out of the parking spots.
On the plus side, it had new comfy pillowtop matresses, a large flat screen TV with cable and Showtime. Free wifi that was okay, but hard to stream video on. The breakfast was average, just a continental breakfast with a waffle maker. The location is great, right off the freeway with a McDonald's and Denny's within walking distance, and a local Diner across the street.
I would probably not stay here again except for the proximity to our house. And I probably would not have stayed past the first night if we hadn't already paid for our room. When our remodel went longer than expected we found a new hotel and were much happier with it. Not recommended.
First of, we reserved the suite with two King beds and a Queen Couch, then received a call a week before saying the room was under renovation and we would get two equivalent rooms. Those rooms ended up being two rooms, all the way down the hallway with two double beds. One of them did not have a fridge or microwave.
One of the rooms had a rusty bathtub with a dripping faucet, the other one had a toilet that didn't flush.
The cleanliness of the hotel is poor and the staff is not helpful at all.
We have stayed in over 20 LQs and this is BY FAR the worst.
