"For the brand it was OK, but the brand lacks a lot in basics"

LQ inns had lost my business about 7 years back with a loyalty points shenanigan I considered to be deceptive and intentional. After raising the roof about it, they did give my points back which sort of satisfies me that what they were doing they know to be wrong. From that day until recently I had turned my back on the brand, and after several recent stays it?s not likely I?ll be earning free stays.
I checked into this inn during the middle of the afternoon. The desk clerk was painfully slow, but managed to get the job done. Upon getting into my room, everything was in good order. The lights, television, towels, sheets and the like were in very good shape. We requested a non-smoking room, and there was no trace of smoking unlike many of these old inns where smoking has transitioned to non-smoking but left behind cigarette burns in the acrylic tub.
Upon leaving in the morning, I was less than amused with the breakfast choices. LQ was the first brand to offer the guest a free, small breakfast of fruit and starches. They are right where they were in 1985 with their offering, even though others? in the industry very similar to them have made a concerted effort to offer free warm foods that will fill you up and leave you feeling satisfied. If you?re looking for sausage patties, fake scrambled eggs, or any seriousness you?ll need to choose an upscale brand.
The most amazingly missing thing from this inn was any kind of a business center. I?m unsure if LQ was ever on board with this, but by today there are none I?ve seen. Even the lowest grade inns across the land will put out at least one old limping work station for which a guest can print out one boarding pass, or do a menial amount of work. It seems to me to be very inadequate to offer the guest nothing at all, and that would be a serious downgrade of my opinion of the brand since I began to travel in early adulthood on business in 1980. They were the first roadside brand to ditch food an beverage yet locate themselves as close as they could to a stand alone for profit restaurant. That idea has caught on, and if you can find a roadside inn with food and beverage still running, the restaurant portion is probably running at a loss. I really didn't like the food vendor in the parking lot agressively marketing his wares. His presence there did seem inappropraite for an inkeeper to allow on the property.
I would rate the customer service a 10!!! However, the cleanliness of the room I would rate it a 1. The room smelled, carpet was stained and dirty, the base of the tub was dirty, and there is mold in the tiles and mold on the ceiling of the bathroom and one roll of toilet tissue which appeared to be used in the bathroom. I was inconvenienced on having to go to the store to buy toilet paper, Lysol, Febreeze to clean and mask the odor in the room. The exterior of the microwave was dirty and I had to wipe down everything. Left the room the next day to find the beds made up and towels removed from having to lay one in front of the tub, near the sink and one in the base of the tub because the tub and tile was dirty. Get this, my sheets were changed but my pillow cases weren't!!! I've stayed in several LaQuinta's and they were never like this. I really want my money back!!! My room experience was horrible. I was afraid to complain because I didn't want my belongings stolen out the room. Bad /creepy experience for me.
Our room was in need of maintenance as evidenced by chipped paint and dirty carpet. I saw a place where the second floor walkway appeared to have partially fallen down. There's another LaQuinta down the street. Suggest you try it instead.
My family stayed for three nights at the Huntsville Space and Rocket Center La Quinta. It was not a good stay. We like to stay at La Quintas because they are affordable and allow our dog to come with us. This particular one is horrible. The hotel itself is overdue for a renovation. The ceiling was falling in part of our room. The room was dirty--mildew in the bathtub, hair from previous pet guests, etc. But, the worst part of the stay was the owner. He came to the pool and accused my husband of not having a room at the hotel because he has a large beard. After that, every time my family went to the pool, the owner would show up and watch us from the second floor balcony. It was unnerving. I do not recommend this hotel.
Why ask the question"would you like smoking or non? " if you are given the opposite of what you request. Upon arrival at this property our impressions were rather positive. However, when we entered our supposedly non-smoking room we passed through an endless barrage of cigarette smoke. This should have given us our first clue to managements inability to comprehend their guests choices. While the room smelled clean the ceiling, was yellow and plaster was hanging. Housekeeping was disorganized and often over looked essentials such as, towels, toilet paper, and soap.
While the safety of the motel was adequate and sleeping accommodations were satisfactory, I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
