"Nice comfortable room"

Our room was excellent...clean, roomy, and comfortable. We have stayed at many La Quinta Inns, and so far, they have all been excellent. It's nice to know a motel chain that you can count on.
This particular one is right near the entrance to the Colorado National Monument.
If you are traveling with pets, they have a great pet policy...no extra fees!
...And this one is good. I must confess however, considering its in the middle of nowhere its a bit over priced; check the ledger of other La Quinta's, this ones a good 20 bucks more, however most hotels in Fruita are expensive as I can only guess this is where most backpackers stay due to closest proximity to the National Monument Park. But still, 80 dollars a night in off season? Anyhoo, this is a nice property. The lobby almost tinged with cleanliness and the front desk people were very nice and quick and check in. The elevator is a bit old (seems to always be the case at LQ's however the room was modern and up to date. I slept in so I could not try the breakfast (which I heard was good) however the notable with this place is definitely the pool, which I was able to sneak in to after hours as the door was kept open. Even if you dont swim, still take a gander at this thing, never saw anything like it. Who ever designed its shape and contour either was going for the "pools of the future" look, or just suffered a turret's syndrome moment when sketching it. I have included pictures. From each angle it looked like something else, one a tic tac toe board, two a accidental natural sign found in sheet music, three a dinosaur pterodactyl, four the mona lisa. From above the whole thing looked like a jig-saw puzzle piece. Why it was designed that way I have no idea, but this creative moment kept me company as I starred at this while in the hot tub the way one ponders a ink-blot. The hot tub by the way, very small and a little on the old side, there was some sand like substance on the bottom and made me feel like I was bathing in a bucket. The jets were quite strong however. The gym was medium size and basic, though considering what some motels have for gyms, a closet with a old treadmill and stationary bicycle, this was a good fitness center. There was a small but decent size meeting room (filled with people from a dieting convention) and the slow but sufficient computer in the lobby (is this the only computer area here?) a lobby, that was cute and even homey. Despite the fact I still dont know why so much money, this is a good place in a town that does not have much to choose from, and seems to have some strange celebratory feel for dinosaurs and the prehistoric past. There was also what appeared to be a 'nature walk' of sorts out back with a dog trail.
Lastly, its not all that far away from civilization, it just so happens to be the first stop when coming from Utah, but if you are fed up with the choices (particularity with food options), drive another 10 miles east to Grand Junction, where a very nice assorted variety awaits, including a alluring starbuckers and sports bar restaurant.
Stayed here with the wife and dog Thursday and Friday nights of Memorial day weekend. Great location close to I-70 and within walking distance (0.7 miles) to downtown Fruita where some good restaurants are. It is also on the same road to get to Colorado National Monument and other good hikes like Devils Canyon and McInnis Canyons. It has a nice indoor pool, hot tub, exercise room, breakfast dining area. Also has a huge dirt parking lot next to the paved parking lot if you need to park your ATV trailers, RV's, etc. The jetted tub in the king bed room we stayed in on the 2nd floor is disappointing. Very weak jets. It was a nice clean place to stay and we would stay here again.
Visiting Fruita Colorado to see family. La Quinta is located right off the freeway with easy access to everything. The hotel is clean, comfortable and well appointed. Sue at the front desk was friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome even though she is new to the job there. We will stay there again.
I really enjoyed my stay, but they put me by the stairs and I could hear the people going up and down the stairs until late. The room is nice and clean. The big plus was the State Park right next door. I brought my dog, so we were able to walk the state park and enjoy the beauty. I feel the breakfast should be held until at least 10am. They close it all down by 9am. That's pretty early I feel. If you are on a pleasure trip, but for business I am sure that's pleanty late enough.
