A La Quinta traveler |
We had a very restful 2-night stay at this LaQuinta location. It is conveniently located near Interstates 10 and 25, but far enough away that road noise was not an issue. There are plenty of quality restaurants (Applebee's, for example) located nearby.
The only concern is that there are 2 LaQuinta properties, one on each side of the Avenida. If you make a reservation, it is not clear which property you are assigned to until you go to check in. The distance between the 2 is minimal.
I like it that our dog can stay with us for no extra cost. The dog damages nothing and is probably better than most people. The staff is friendly. I have gotten to know a few of them personally and one in particular has always been special .
This older La Quinta is convenient to local attractions, comfortable and has some unique features. Add to that a friendly, involved staff, and you have a great lodging destination in Las Cruces.
This inn is located just off I-10, near some nice chain and independent restaurants (as well as a Super Wal-Mart). The Mesilla Plaza shops and Downtown Las Cruces---with museums and the twice-weekly farmers' market---are just a short drive away.
I found the property fresh, clean and comfortable. There was an active maintenance program underway during my week-long stay, which included carpet cleaning, deodorizing, caulking, painting, pool scrubbing and more. Everything in my room was in good repair and working order.
This La Quinta has some beautiful old school Southwest-style architectural features that fit right into the Las Cruces experience. (Intimate cloisters, sunny walkways and colorful local art.) A dozen of the downstairs rooms have sliding glass doors that open onto a mini patio and the pool courtyard.
On top of all this was a staff---desk, breakfast, housekeeping, maintenance---that was invariably friendly, helpful and involved. (This staff is a great source of recommendations about local activities and restaurants.)
My experience at this La Quinta was top-shelf.
We made a last minute reservation when we couldn't get to our originally planned destination due to Highway closure. We were very pleased with the clean, quiet environment that also welcomed our two Labs. Being near several eating establishments was a plus. The staff was friendly, we had a great little breakfast, and left, feeling that we would certainly book here again if our travels take us that direction in the future.
It is the usual older La Quinta, but our room was clean, had plenty of towels and no traffic noise.
The breakfast was what one might expect cereal, boiled eggs, waffle and bread, but enough to get going, after all it isn`t a high end hotel.
