"Weekend getaway with a swim."

My daughter and I truly enjoyed our weekend together away from home just to hang with friends for a swim and celebrating get 14th birthday with a few of them. We took in a movie e a walk through the mall where we had a cartoon pix drawn of us, at midnight we all had breakfast at Denny's, having your hotel in the Layton area allowed us to have an epic weekend at a very reasonable rate. Thank you.
You get what you pay for and this was rather cheap ($70 USD). The lobby is average, rooms a bit stark and cold and grounds a bit tattered but not trashed. The elevator smells like the moldy interior of an old car. My biggest gripe was the noise! Windows are old and don't seal. Some of the double panes have lost their seal and are foggy. The noise from outside seems to seep in from outside. The trash truck comes at 0600, and they started mowing at 0800. On top of this the a/c unit was noisy.
The morning feed bag in the lobby looked ok but certainly nothing special or even appetizing. We went elsewhere.
Overall I would say this property isn't on a par with other well run La Quinta properties we've stayed at in the past. For a cheap sleep in a pinch this La Quinta "will do" but if I had my druthers I would pay a bit more and find something better.
I have no major complaints about my stay at La Quinta in Layton. The initial parking situation to check in is a little bit confusing, but there is parking in the back of the hotel. The front desk staff was friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. The wireless internet worked well. Famous Dave's was right next door. There were also drug stores within walking distance, and other restaurants within driving distance. It is easy access to the freeway. It was also practical for driving to some of the canyons in the Ogden/Layton vicinity.
When searching for a motel I will look at La Quinta first. I had 2 great experiences in a row in different states...way to go La Quinta!
My only suggestion to others is: I travel with my dog and clean up after it...I advise others to do the same!
We checked out and later decided to stay another night. The first room was a llittle cleaner than the second room but still great for the price! The breakfast saved my family of 5 a good amount of money! The kids loved being able to make their own waffles:) The pool temperature was great, hot tub a little too hot. Would definetly stay again. General Manager was very friendly and helpful.
