This was an exceptionally great place to stay.
Professional, friendly staff.
Clean, higher class relaxation (main entrance) area
well maintained, as was the entire hotel and restaurant.
If we are ever in that specific area again, there's no doubt
we'll be there!
Great job Tacoma!!
Traveling over Thanksgiving holiday made a reservation over telephone. Can't complain. Bed was comfortable. Room was spacious. Heating unit in the room was noisy but didn't keep us awake. $75 rate AARP rate. Lounge and restaurant closed for Thanksgiving holiday but still serve very ample continental breakfast in nice setting. Front desk courteous but not friendly. Lots of parking. Close to a casino. Similar rate to Motel 6 but much better property.
Searched extensively on net for a cheap, safe hotel in tacoma, puylallup area. Waffled based on reviews! Finally decided to NOT book on line but print of quotes, taxes, inclusions etc. of 3 to 4 surrounding area hotels. Based on price...was going to be 110 and change for la Quinta. The others I ran off were marginally cheaper. Arrived, after driving four hours after a long day at work. Had my photocopies, and dog in hand at the front counter. Explained that I didn't book as I didn't know how far I'd travel that night before calling it quites. Asked about a room for me and my small dog. Was quoted 89 dollars. Already happy as it was cheaper than Internet (with taxes, and no pet fees, and continetal breaky). Then asked about the CAA/AAA rate. 75 dollars! Even better! Then also recieved a 10% off for restaurant. Was given a room on the first floor...hmmmm a little concerned. Walking down hallway saw signs of alanon convention and meeting rooms all down my hallway. hmmmm... okay, spidy sensors tweeking. reached room and was pleasantly surprised. was concrened about Noise, undesirables, window on street etc. etc. room was plain and basic but decent. Not cleaned to my perfectionist taste (i travel with a bottle of diluted bleach spray) but not something I'd be totally grossed out by. Sprayed down the essentials, checked the ground level window ( had bars and a safety lock) and then felt quite happy with my DEAL! Settled my puppy in and headed for the dinning room. Famished! Ordered chicken Masala. K, not fantastic but not gross. Definitely overpriced (even with 10% off) and the waitress was a bit ditzy but very pleasant. From there retired to the lounge for a night cap and to catch up on email. Service was good. Back to room to check on my doggy. All fine. Called room service at 9:35....everything closed at 9:30!!! Okay, I paid 100 bucks for hotel for myself and dog, dinner and breaky. Can't complain. Bed was super comfy with super soft sheets and 6 pillows!!!! Molly and I slept like babies! For the price you pay I felt I got my monies worth.

We hadn't planned to stay in Tacoma, and so called for a reservation only an hour before we wanted to check in. We were quoted $89/night (+ taxes.) When we got to the hotel to check in, we were told that the rate was $95/night. That's not a huge difference, but it was irritating. Stephanie at the front desk (I'm sure she's the petite blond woman mentioned by Meryl S in his review) was absolutely fabulous. First, she explained how their computer system works and why the difference might occur. Then she looked at all the options and was finally able to get us a king room for $85. What really impressed me was how patient and cheerful she was as she explained and tried to make the change.
We had the same level of friendly, cheerful service from everyone at the hotel.
The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. It was also pretty spacious, with a large writing desk, a comfortable desk chair, and a firm, comfortable mattress.
I had to use the business center to print out some material, and the service was free.
Breakfast was typical of moderate priced hotel continental breakfasts; nothing outstanding, but nice if you aren't a big breakfast eater.
We will definitely stay at La Quinta again.
Not even a 2 star hotel. Room had a strange smell. Not sure what it was I had an allergic reaction & ask for another room. It was better but it still had an odor maybe like that of a dirty mop. Would have left but I had prepaid & could not get a refund. Beds both were sunken in the middle & slept terrible. They need to be replaced. Heating unit was loud & wakes you up when you finally do fall asleep. There was a hair band (not a small rubber band) left under the desk from a previous customer, if a maid had vacuumed the room it would have messed up the vacuum. No coffee had to ask & then what they brought out was too strong to drink. The Sleep Inn in Seattle that we stayed in the night before was a 2 star & a much better hotel! We were looking for a Hilton in the Tacoma area usually a 3star. This LaQuinta was rated a 3 star (not sure how) very disappointing. I'm glad I only paid for 1 horrible nights sleep. We'll be staying the rest of our week in the area some some place else!
