"Sleepless in Gainesville"

One of the least desirable hotels in the La Quinta chain. Room's telephone was not working and low water pressure meant no showers. But the worst was the constant foot traffic and disruptive actions of this hotel's clientele. Rooms are facing a parking lot with people coming at all hours of the night and thin walls and inadequate drapery heightens the discomfort. We had very little rest and would never return to this hotel.
A very nice stay, facility clean and neat, breakfast good, staff excellent, and price unbeatable. Located within walking to dozens of restraunts and the Oaks Mall.......nice pool deck too. Maids closely respects the do not disturb (I sleep late), and the housekeeping maintains all VERY well and always left me a bag( on door handle) of clean towels, soap, shampoo, coffee-tea-sugar-creamer,etc.(all without waking me). Located just a few hundred feet from I-75, and yet NO road noise. Large HD TV and free high speed internet and never a wait if you have need to call the front desk with a question or request. So....A+ on my scale........jim
This was a great stay the hotel staff were great! They sent a text and told us when our room was ready. My husband wanted to stay closer to the back area so it would be quiet they switched rooms for us although the room would not be ready until later, when we were ready to come back the room was ready and very clean and met our needs very well. The morning breakfast was great! It had boiled eggs yogurt cereals milk and juice, waffles and bagels and toast and very good coffee.
I would not recommend this Hotel. Grounds, Sidewalks, and Elevator were dirty. The room we eventually got was very old, outdated, and unclean. Pretty scary area too, lots of skate boarders going up and down the sloped parking lot at all hours of the night. Our King room was not ready when we arrived. They gave us the excuse they were short staffed that day.-- Not My Problem. Came back later to check in only to find our room was so hot we could not stay in it. Air was broken. Not My Problem. Seems like the short staffed cleaning crew would have noticed that. The only room left was a room with two beds. My husband and I had to sleep separately. (Not FUN) Front desk person was rude with bad attitude. It was too late to search for another room plus there was an event in town and everything was already booked. For the price we were paying ($199.00 per night) We felt raped and violated. Who ever the owner is should be ashamed of taking advantage of people. La Quinta should remove his franchise also
We don't mind paying a fair price for a good hotel but this La Quinta needs shut down, and its owner should be in jail.
Great location, close to shopping, the University of Florida. Has clean rooms. Parking can be difficult. Price is standard, for the area. It is a very busy hotel, so reserve early. Free breakfast goes fast-get there early.
