"Nice place at a reasonable price"

This LaQuinta is clean and has been uplifted. The bathroom is very small and the door doesn't open all of the way as it hits the shower curtain bar which means you have to stand off to the side to close the door to do your business on the toilet.
Breakfast was serviceable.
This hotel has just recently been renovated by La Quinta. It was the Holiday Inn I believe. We travel with pets so we always try to stay at La Quinta's whenever possible. We were so happy when La Quinta finally got one closer to my husband's parents. This hotel is stunning and beautiful. The breakfast was always delicious and had a great variety. Upon booking and arrival I was able to read other reviews and one review had specifics on the breakfast portion and I can tell you every concern they had, had been addressed and fixed. Everyday there were two hot items, cereal, waffles, fresh fruit and all was delicious and the attendant stayed on top of everything. My favorite day was the cheese omelet day. lol. The pool was nice.
I only have two complaints really. The bathroom door is too extremely big for the bathroom. You cannot set fit two people in there at one time at all. With a family of four that is essential. That became a real pain and the shower got water everywhere. The other is the noise coming from the hall. No idea if the gi-normous doors make the noise carry worse but whatever was going on in the hall you could hear every word.
The other is a real concern with the management which my husband is awaiting a call back from the GM. When we first arrived we gave them a credit card and they explained how they hold the amount from check in which was fine. We figured out the next day we gave them the wrong debit card and went to exchange cards which was fine but, when I checked my account the amount was way more than what we reserved the hotel for. My husband went to discuss the bill and the desk clerk tried to tell my husband that when the hotel gets busy and fills up that your price increases ......."Oh no you didn't". We have never had that happen at any hotel especially a La Quinta. He stayed down in the lobby for almost 45 minutes while the manger discussed it and they finally fixed it. The price you reserve is the price it should stay. I even called the La Quinta Elite line and they said this has never been their policy. So my advice it to check you bill and add it up to make sure it all computes correctly because this totaled to be a $150 difference.
On another note these were the most comfortable hotel beds we have EVER slept on.
Room are clean and modern, although the bathrooms are small, they do the job. I come to Springfield 2 or 3 times a year, and I am always happy to stay here. I have been staying here ever since it was a Holiday Inn, and this place has never been nicer. The staff are super friendly and competent. The breakfast is adequate.
"Quick over night stay for Six Flags cheer competition"

Located right off the highway. Very convenient to mass pike and 10 minutes to Six Fags. Polite, efficient desk clerk. Arrived late to go right to sleep to be up at 6a.m. for cheer competition. Room was clean despite being a little small, it was fine for the price, $132 with tax (AAA rate). Bathroom was clean, and in good shape, though tiny. Again, fine for the price. Slept soundly and comfortably despite warning from front desk that they were getting complaints about noisy kids running in the halls. We heard nothing. Free breakfast was adequate and FREE. Will stay there again.
First thing is check-in went very smoothly plus I am an elite member and they had already upgraded my room prior to arrival. We were in the area for Six flags/and local museums(another review). Upon entering our room which was 2 queens plus sofa the room/bathroom is extremely clean and updated and the mattresses extremely comfortable and probably one of the best I have slept on. The bedding also very clean/comfortable. We were on the 8th fl all the way at the end away from elevator which was quiet except what listed below from LQ survey which I copied.
What would you do to improve this hotel?
Several things need attention: When I first entered the room the tallness of the doors was kind of cool but the 2 inch gap underneath not so much. I was woken every morning by the kids across the hall because it sounded like they were in my room. Every room has that gap so the noise from every room goes into the hallway and in to every room, u might want to add something to the bottom of doors to buffer noise. We had a problem with fridge which was promptly changed but the new one froze my stuff because the adjustment is in the back not inside like most fridges. The pool area needs lounge chairs not just regular chairs so u can get comfortable while kids are swimming plus at one point there wasn't enough seating period. The kids enjoyed themselves
in the pool/game room. The water temp perfect and the pool goes 8ft indepth which is better than a lot of pools I would have enjoyed if they had a Jacuzzi.

I wanted to address breakfast by itself. I have been to a lot of LQ across the country that why I have Elite status it is one of my favorite brands, From the great customer service, pool areas and the breakfasts. This was one of the weakest breakfast areas I have come across at a LQ. First having one hot item doesn't make sense. The 1st morning it was sausage to go with what? I put it with a waffle which I am not really fond of. The 2nd day was scrambled eggs which I tried to put in a bagel with little success. In other places the sausage would have gone with the scrambled eggs. The 3rd day not so bad there was little egg/cheese omelet that I put in a bagel. Having to request boiled eggs doesn't make sense why have to wait just have them out like other places. Small selection of pastry and no fresh fruit at all I have NEVER seen that. the yogurt ok but no nonfat ones also no lite syrup for waffles. They did have small selection of cereal/oatmeal. The plus side nice size seating area shielded off from rest of hotel which I liked.
One negative about housekeeping was that I had to hunt them down to exchange towels. Seems that they come in later and really weren't on my floor prior to me leaving for day which was never before 10 am. but the hallways were always clean and the room was spotless upon arrival.
Other plusses were : nice large flat screen tv that sat on decent size dresser with draws that I used for snacks, etc and included micro/fridge, internet always worked, huge closet that was mirrored nice touch. The nice size desk had coffee maker and plenty of space for computer or other things. The sofa looked brand new and had decent coffee table in front for the girls to have an area to hang and do their thing.
The bathroom was small but provided what we needed: nice adjustable shower head, appropriate storage for towels but provided very few toiletries esp if u have 4 adults.
Location was perfect in walking distance to quad of museums and just off highway, like quick and easy 7 min ride to six flags
Overall a very good stay just needs a few improvements.
