"PERFECT"

My trip began 8/29/14 and ended 9/1/14 at LaQuinta Inn & Suites 4253 Central Hot Springs Ar. This was the first stay for my daughter and granddaughters. Where do I start, from the second we arrived until check out everything was perfect. The rooms were very clean, the girls enjoyed the work out room & pool. The breakfast was the best with a LARGE variety to select from. The staff from the moment of check in Friday night 8/29/14 to check out with manager Lisa Falls 9/1/14 were the best. They were great we can't wait to return.

"Security issues and terrible service"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 6, 2014

On the second night of our stay we were awakened at 1am by someone in uniform knocking on the door who did not identify himself. He said that someone had reported that water was pouring under the door of our room - which was clearly and visibly not the case. He then left without explaining the situation or apologizing for waking us. This was stressful and we didn't know if this was someone casing our room or what was going on. Especially since the side doors to the hotel are not locked at all and anyone can walk in. We had a difficult time sleeping after this which made our drive home terrible. The next morning I talked to the front desk person (who was constantly outside the front door smoking - gross). He said that he heard from the woman working the night before that a call came in from outside the hotel reporting incidents on the second and fourth floors. Apparently someone had done something similar a few weeks before and robbed the front desk when the staff member went to investigate the situation. So she sent the security guard to check on things. Here's my issue, if the staff knew this was likely a rouse and that the call came from outside the hotel AND when the security guard went by the room and there was clearly NO water pouring out the door why did he feel the need to wake and alarm us anyway??? And then if he felt compelled to wake us as 1am why did he not identify himself so we felt secure in the establishment? Furthermore after I reported the problem to the front desk attendant the next day, why did he not apologize for our inconvenience?? Strike after strike after strike against the hotel. It was lame and expensive. We were really disappointed and won't be coming back.

"Decent hotel, horrible service"

On the last night of our stay we were awakened at 1am by someone in uniform knocking on the door who didn't identify himself. He said that someone had reported water pouring under the door of our room which was clearly not the case. He left without explaining or apologizing. Later I talked to the front desk guy. He said a call came from outside the hotel reporting incidents on two floors. Someone had done something similar before and robbed the front desk when staff went to investigate so they sent security to check. "Security an issue here."

I have stayed at this location many times and hopefully this will be my last stay at this La Quinta. I was hoping my current stay would have improved from the last visit but sadly it has only gotten worse. Security is a major concern while staying at this property as the side door does not lock at night as it should. The card key scanner is broken so the door remains open for anyone to gain access to the rooms or anywhere else inside the hotel at all hours. If the management truly cared about their guests safety this would be fixed immediately. Also a large party spilled out into the hallway on my floor at 3AM, all I heard was screaming and shouting in the halls for over an hour and no one was sent to rectify the situation. All this plus an old mattress that kills my back equals a sleepless night. Other concerns were lazy, lackadaisical front desk staff. Several times during my stay my card key stopped working which had to be reprogramed . More than once I made my way down to the lobby to find no one attending the front desk. As I stood around for over 10 minutes one of the hotel?s cleaning staff walks by and finds me waiting and proceeds to go on a hunt to find the front desk clerk which she says ?must be outside smoking? The employee searches in vain to find ?Michael? the desk clerk which emerges 10 minutes later from the back of the lobby area where he was laying down on a sofa watching TV that is there for guest to enjoy. I can tell you if I owned this hotel ?Michael? would be looking for another job. I can?t imagine the current owner paying him to watch TV while he has guests waiting to be helped and checked in.... this is very unprofessional. Another issue I had was with the cleaning staff. I had put out a do not disturbed card on the door but that didn?t seem to stop them. As I was getting ready to go out an employee walks into my room, looks at me and says, ?I?m sorry I got the wrong room? This is not a big deal really, however, the do not disturbed sign fits into the door lock making it impossible for him not to see it, which means he clearly saw it but chose to totally ignored it and walked right in. This employee apologized profusely for the next 3 days every time he saw me, saying he saw the card but was told to move a TV for a guest in another room, and walk into mine by accident. I don?t really buy his story as one apology is enough, but to go on and on about it everytie he sees me then add as to why he walked into my room in the first place seems over kill to me and extremely suspicious. By the way, no in room safe so bring your valuables and anything you don?t want to lose with you. The so called ?workout room? should be put out of its misery and turned into a closet as none of the machines actually work. They have 3 machines and 2 are completely broken to where they cannot be used and the other malfunctions to the point it is a hazard to use. The TV in the room doesn?t work as well as no towels, water, a non working AC, and a dead clock that hangs crooked on the wall and not wroking. Looked like no one has walked into this room since the early 80s. The pool area is small and since it is an indoor pools not all that inviting. The pool itself looked clean but judging from the rest of the hotel I wouldn?t count on that. The pool area had no towels and very dirty windows. My hotel room itself was a nice size, however; the attention to detail was not there. A horrible paint job with over spray very obvious on the walls and some of the ceiling panels removed which was just unsightly and gave the impression I was in a flop house. I was left one bar of soap and one tiny all in one shampoo & conditioner. I?m sure the cleaning staff is instructed to leave only one, why so cheap La Quinta? When I asked a passing cleaning attendant for more, I was handed one of each like they are passing out gold bars. I had a few small ants in my room which was not a big deal however I didn?t not appreciate the few I found in the bed. The TV remote did not work so I gave up on that, however the wifi worked fine. Breakfast was ok but very crowded with kids everywhere. The line to make a waffle was over 20 minutes long, so I passed on that. Hot Springs desperately needs some new lodging in the area. The only reason this La Quinta can charge a rate that, quite frankly is a borderline rip off is they are just about the only game in town at their price point. Next time I am in the area I plan to pay the extra 50.00+ a night for somewhere that I can get a decent nights sleep and mattress that doesn?t hurt my back as well as a staff that actually cares if you are staying with them as this La Quinta certainly couldn?t care less.

"Nice hotel but pricey for the area"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 2, 2014

One of the nicer La Quinta's we have stayed at. Clean room but paper thins walls. Can hear everything. Our headboard was not attached well and rattled every time we moved. Breakfast was chaotic because the hotel was so crowded. Felt the price was a little high for the area but its definitely one of the nicer hotels in Hot Springs, so maybe they are capitalizing on that. Would stay again.
