This hotel is in a good location. Close to Walmart, Sam's Club, Toys/Babies R Us, movie theater, Kohls, Game Stop, LA Fitness, Petco, Bank of America, Olive Garden, Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cheese Burger in Paradise, Chipotle, Chili's, Houlihan's, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba's, Outback, and more. It's also in close proximity to NYC.
The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. Just off of the lobby, breakfast is served every morning. It's a hot breakfast so there was eggs and sausages as well as a make your own Belgian waffle station, cereal, bagels, croissants, and pastries. There was juice, milk, coffee, and tea available. Breakfast was included with the room.
The room was a king suite with small pullout couch. The room was pretty large with a fairly large bathroom, a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. There were two TVs. One was a flat screen, about 32" and the other was an outdated tube TV. The windows could be opened about 6" for fresh air.
The hotel has a fairly large indoor pool. The water was warm and clean. There are towels available in the pool area. There are plenty of lounging chairs and there is a sunroof to let the rays in. Adjacent to the pool is a small gym. Not the smallest hotel gym I've seen some of the equipment didn't work such as the treadmill and part of the weight set. There are bathrooms with showers in the gym. Sweat towels are provided and there is a TV for entertainment. There is a convenient, covered parking garage right next to the hotel with a section reserved to La Quinta hotel guests.
Overall the was a good hotel. Pretty good value and you can't beat the location in Secaucus. I would recommend this hotel for people visiting NYC and people for business events.
We were entered in the Westminster Dog Show but didn't want to stay in the city. We had stayed at the La Quinta in the past when doing doggie things in NYC. The room was clean, the staff very friendly and helpfun. We had a studio couch in our room which needed updating but other wise we had a great experience.
I went to this hotel with my boyfriend and we loved our stay. It is very well located, close to a lot of stores, restaurants and in front of the bus stop which the buses go to Manhattan in every 15 minutes. The shuttle of the hotel is very useful to go to places like the bus stop which goes to Jersey Gardens Outlet and Walmart. Another thing that we apreciated a lot was the big size of the room. We were with 4 big luggages and we could spread them all over the room without stumbling on them, very different from the small rooms of the Manhatan's hotels. The king size bed is big and very comfortable and the shower is nice. Most of the staff, especially at the front desk were very kind and helped us with every information that we needed. It has a good breakfast included, which is very unusual at the Manhattan's hotels. You don't have to worry about going to Manhattan. It is very easy if you take the 320 bus. You just have to avoid the rush hour. We had a wonderful surprise with the early check in ofered by the hotel. We had to ask for a late check out and it was accepeted by them. We will certainly stay again at this hotel when we go back to ny.
Stayed first time here as a family group of 8 adults, 2 nights in four separate rooms, trying to see Manhattan on a budget in winter. Not a small project, but we were lucky to straddle a big winter storm. We were not keen to drive in Manhattan, so this was a great alternative, and the bus access really is excellent as everybody else says. Note that they switch the return gate to 320 after 10 p.m. in the Port Authority terminal, but not a big deal once you know. Picking up the bus in front of the hotel is easy and feels very safe. Note that they only sell 6 return tickets at a time, so minor delay for us making two transactions, but again no problem since we are the first stop for bus 320. Could do an essay on winter travel to Manhattan, but suffice it to say it's fine, just dress warm and prepare for possible slush (waterproof boots). The hotel is a bit dated but quite comfortable so long as you know one thing we didn't. Prior to check-in they turn the thermostats off completely (not just down). You may be cool but comfortable going to bed, but by morning you will be guaranteed cold unless the thermostat is turned back on, especially given the relatively thin blankets. Another minor quibble was difficulty with the room locks which needed some persistence to get the green light to open. Complimentary breakfast was very respectable. We left 2 cars parked in front of the hotel during the storm and were never concerned about safety. Next time will be sure to clear snow off car roof though. My son got $50 ticket from NJ state trooper for failing to do so. Still, a nice way to see NYC decked out for Christmas after the New Year crowds are gone.
Stayed here with my boyfriend Dec 12 - 14th on a trip to visit NYC. The hotel is close to the city, and the bus stops right out front every 10 minutes or so and goes to Port Authority - cheap too at $7.90pp round trip fare. The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed was sooo comfortable - we stayed on the 9th floor at the end of the hall and it was very quiet. Breakfast was good with lots of variety; waffles, cereal, bread, donuts, croissants, yogurt, sausages and eggs, coffee, juice. We arrived before check in and there's a room where they can store your luggage so no issues with arriving early. The front desk staff are very helpful and accommodating.
The only complaint I have is that the staff and shuttle service don't seem to be very well organized. We were on the train and called the hotel to have them pick us up at Secaucus Junction; said it would be about 20 minutes. About 30 minutes later the shuttle hadn't arrived so we called and they said, rather exasperatedly that it would be another 20 minutes. The shuttle doesn't have the hotel's name or anything on it, it's just a gold/brown SUV which would have been nice to know as we were standing outside in the freezing cold, not sure what to expect of the vehicle that was supposed to be picking us up. We finally arrived at the hotel about an hour after we arrived at the train station - and it's just a short drive away. This was not the best way to start our trip.
Going home was a bit more frustrating as we were unsure whether we wanted to bother trying to coordinate with the shuttle given how it had let us down when we arrived and we didn't want to miss the train/plane. We came back from the city with plenty of time and saw the shuttle sitting in the car park. I went to the front desk and asked if we could "book it" to take us to the train station and they said it wouldn't be available for about an hour and a half. We sat in the lounge area, deciding if we wanted to risk it in case there were additional delays like before. About 30 minutes later we decided just to take a cab to the train station so I went to ask the front desk if they could call one. A man approached me and asked if I needed any help, told him what I needed and he said don't bother he was the shuttle driver and would take us to the airport. I was shocked, the shuttle hadn't moved the entire time we'd been sitting there and he said he was done with the large group.
In the end we made it with plenty of time but the lack of coordination and communication was rather frustrating. I would definitely recommend this place as the hotel is great value for the $$
