"Convenient, comfortable, secure."

On a main road, Highway 57, near the south edge of the city. New building. Helpful desk clerks. Comfortable hotel, with good amentities, secure parking with a guard on duty 24 hours and locking gates, and good attention to security inside, with access on stairways and elevators key-controlled. Generous free breakfast. Microwave and fridge, well equipped bathrooms. First class restaurant a few steps away - La Mansion - plus other family restaurants.

"Very nice hotel and great breakfast!"

This newer La Quinta is a very nice choice of a hotel in San Luis Potosi. For a chain of this nature, it is somewhat fancier than other locations. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast was delicious with a wide array of Mexican specialties and the usual breads, fruits, juices, coffee, etc. It is currently listed as being pet friendly, which is why I booked this hotel. The hotel is feverishly trying to become non pet-friendly and they already have a large 'NO PETS ALLOWED' sign on the front of the building. However, until they are able to get that changed from La Quinta's main web reservation center, you are allowed to have a pet and you must sign a two page pet policy. If you want to explore and a stay in the historic district, I would not recommend this hotel, but it is conveniently located off of Hwy 57.

"Nice hotel. Great option for its price for a night or two."

Stayed here a couple weeks ago since I had an early flight to the USA. Hotel is really nice. Everything pretty much brand new. Rooms have mini Fridges and microwaves. Beds are super comfy and the pillows are wonderful. AC works just fine. Bathrooms are big enough and spacious with good water pressure and hot water. WIFI also worked really good and they have a port for high speed connection also. You will sleep great here! I also asked for the Free Airport shuttle so we were up early and on our way in a large van used by all the hotels in the area. Honestly if you are flying in , it pays to let them know and have the shuttle at the airport to bring you to the hotel as a taxi will be $20 and if you are carrying alot of luggage and need a van its $40. They gave me coupons for breakfast but since we were leaving so early we didnt get to try it. I asked at the desk if they had any yogurts or pastries something we could grab to take with us and they said that a lady brought the breakfast in every morning and they had nothing there other then some snacks for purchase. I knew there was an OXXO nearby and they said it was a couple blocks away. Warning - Those are some long blocks, you can go buy beer and such at OXXO but its about 12 minute walk away and you really should be a bit carefull about going out there at night. We did go, but we live in Mexico and we walked fast. I think there is a store at the Marriot next door though. There is also a Wallmarts down the road and across the highway if you want to brave it and a KFC, MCD and Pizza Hut if you dont want to go to Sirloin Stockade near the restaurant. Speaking of which Sirloin Stockade is an inexpensive buffet with lots of options, salads, meats, pizza etc. If you sign up on their website you can get a coupon for buy one get one free buffet. We will try this weekend and I will review it later. Now for the bad. The rooms are only average size. For a night or two of if you aren't in the room alot that will be fine, but if you have more then 2 in your party it's going to get a bit cramped after a few days. This is why i'm paying more and staying in the marriot next door this weekend when we are in town since I will be with 2 adults and 2 children and this room isn't really big enough for all of us. I did not see the Executive suite available when making bookings otherwise I would book it for this weekend. The pool is a bit small by US standards and was heated. The jacuzzi was very cold. Go figure. The pool is outdoors and right below the windows. I did not appreciate this as when I went to take a relaxing dip, I had a couple rooms full of kids opening their windows and leaning out staring at me for 10 minutes. Ruined both my privacy and my mood. The exercise room consists of only 3 pieces of equipment. Two stair climbers and a treadmill. Wish there was more as my son wanted to use the treadmill also and he had to wait till I was finished with it. The room looks bigger in the photo then it is in reality. Im glad they have the exercise room, but some weight equipment is needed also.. especially for anyone on extended stays. My single biggest complaint about the hotel is that when we arrived, we checked in, got our keys etc and went to the elevator. We pushed the button for our floor and stood there for minutes while nothing happened. Had to drag all our luggage out of the elevator and I went and asked at the desk and the guy said that elevator didnt work. So we waited for the second one and once again the same thing happened. Perplexed we stood around not knowing how to get to our rooms. I started having visions of carrying 5 pieces of luggage up six flights of stairs when finally my son went back into the first elevator and found a slot where we were supposed to put our key in order to use it. Obviously this is great for security purposes to keep unwanted people out of the hotel but c'mon, nost people arrive tired and it would have been proper for the desk clerk to explain the elevator key business to us. Why lie to us and say the elevator doesnt work when it does? Why not just explain about the key? Are you trying to humiliate your guests?? Because honestly all three of us felt a bit humilated only minutes after arriving, so great way to start ou stay. I've never been in an hotel elevator that needed a key. I think its great for security purposes, but BECAUSE THE DESK CLERK STOOD THERE WATCHING US STRUGGLE WITH THE ELEVATOR AND HE DIDNT BOTHER TO TELL US ABOUT THE KEY I'M TAKING ONE STAR FROM MY REVIEW, SO LA QUINTA GETS 4 STARS INSTEAD OF 5. NEXT TIME TAKE THE EFFORT TO BE FRIENDLY INSTEAD OF JUST TAKING MY MONEY WHEN I SIGN IN!!! There was no ice on our floor although there was a sign that clearly said "ice". Sadly there was only an empty place where the machine should be. I tried another foor but the elevator would only let me go to the lobby and my own floor. Smart elevator, but what if I need to wash my clothes or raid the snack machines on another floor? Ah well, I went down and asked at the desk and the clerk said it was on another floor and he could use his key to get us there. You also needed to use the room key to get into the weight room and pool area. All this security is just great but it's a real pain and seems a bit ridiculous in such a small hotel. We came downstairs to work out in the weight room but since we took only one key when my wife wanted to go back to the room she couldnt because then how would I be able to jump into the pool after working out, let alone how would I get back to the room with no key? She also didnt know where the second key was either so how would she bring it back to me? What a mess! When I was done working and I went to the pool I had to jump out, and go open the door for her since she couldn't get in the pool area. Seriously its great to have security onsite but why not just hire a security guard? I have been in Mexico long enough to know that limiting the use of the hotel facilities by requiring keys is not going to stop determined criminals. Ah well.. like I said, this place is great for 1 or 2 night stay. All and all we did have a decent nights rest in a comfortable room.

"good choice"

very good price/quality ratio, clean, modern, friendly staff. It is in the south zone (hotel district), offers free shuttle from / to airport, the hotel is almost new and all is working. It is equipped with microwave, water boiler, good speed free wifi. A parte of the desk personnel doesn't speak a good english or doesn't speak english at all, but they are very friendly and do their best to help you. Very nice people. Should I come back to SLP I will return at this hotel. avoid sirloin stockade and go 30 mtrs over at "La mansion" restaurant (see other rewiew)
