"Very Basic"

The first room they gave us was terrible. One of the beds was sagging and the air conditioner was not working. The man at the front desk was helpful and he changed our rooms. The second room was more comfortable. The double beds are very small though. The breakfast had cereal, yogurt, toast, and waffles. The coffee was horrible. We had no desire to go downstairs for breakfast the next day. If you only need basic accommodations this is the right place for you.
This place is a little run down. There's discolored paint on the walls and the bathroom is dated. My first impression was poor- no welcome, no smile, just "Last name?" from the front desk. We won't be back.
Another reviewer points out that the "pet wing" is on the first floor, but this does not mean pets are limited to the first floor. We were on the third floor and heard constant barking Saturday night during our stay. Average noise levels overall for a hotel these days. My biggest problems were the general condition of the property(aged and in need of renovation) and lack of cleanliness in common areas. On check-in we noticed trash on the lobby floor and trash on the third floor hallway. I never saw or heard anyone cleaning or vacuuming in the common areas. The breakfast is very mediocre and not worth discussing; however just next door is an excellent breakfast place - Capitol Pancake House (Be sure to use their coupon, prices are typically high for tourists). I give above average marks to front office personnel, although they sometimes disappear from view for a while; and the maids seem to be well - trained in room cleaning. I will probably seek other accomodations next time and pay a little more.
This was our 2nd time staying at this hotel. I was playing in the LPGA event at Kingsmill, which is only about 10 mins away. If you ask the manager for a weekly rate, he will work with you! We travel with 2 dogs and this hotel is very pet friendly. The pet wing is on the first floor. Plenty of area to walk them. If you have time, Waller Mill Park is 3 miles away and has a dog park and awesome hiking trails for the dogs. The hotel staff was super friendly and very prompt. Our room was super clean and spacious. There is a very nice breakfast in the a.m! The guy who prepares breakfast is such a hard worker and very helpful! Also a pool, fitness center, laundry, and two computers and printer for guest use..and they had a new area where snacks were available for purchase. You just cant beat the value! We will never stay anywhere else! Thanks for making us feel so welcome!
I stayed here on a thursday night because we were visiting Williamsburg and the surrounding area. The hotel is clean and nicely decorated, very convenient to williamsburg (5 min drive to the visitors center or 5 min to the town) and on a fairly quiet avenue. Our room was clean yet showed its age (probably a former Holiday Inn), but what can you really expect from a hotel that allowes pets? However, that was the best part! Not only was the price right but the fact that they didnt charge extra for a pet was/is awesome!
There is a huge indoor pool that is open year around as well as a shuffle board and seating area. Breakfast is offered for a reasonable amount of time in the morning (however I didnt eat there).
The staff were friendly and courteous and even gave my dog, Brady, a treat when we brought him through the lobby.
** I wouldnt suggest eating at the local restaurants you will find next door and across the street. The ratings at these establishments are miserable and Sal's Italian restaurant was just plain bad when we ate there.
All in all, this hotel is probably the best bang for your buck when it comes to pet friendly hotels. Convenient, comfortable and reasonable should be their middle names :).
