"Ok ... But, Nothing Special"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 2, 2014
EagleScout1985 | Custer, South Dakota
My family spent the Labor Day Weekend in Denver, and we have stayed at this LaQuinta in the past ... so, we thought we would go back and save about $12 per night as compared to other hotels. It offers a nice location, with a Village Inn next door, as well as several gas stations nearby. If someone is looking for a quick night to spend an evening (close to I25) ... getting back on the road the next day, this site is perfect. But, if you are searching for a vacation HQ, this site is probably not the best. My family does not mind the exterior elements. The flowerbeds were well-kept by the front door and around the main entrances. Yes, other areas needed attention, but we did not dwell on the grounds ... as we did not spend a lot of time at the facility. Compared to some of the other reviews, our beds were fine (too), and our room amenities were as expected. The staff seemed friendly too, and the morning breakfast was adequate. For $79 and $89 per night, we felt as though the hotel satisfied its purpose. Areas needing improvement ... first, our room was not ready upon our arrival at 4:30 p.m. We never received a text message, so we kinda wondered. Upon checking in, the front desk staff radioed the housekeeping staff about our room ... the housekeeping staff clearly stated that our room was ready. Yet, when we opened our door to the room, the beds were still unmade, trash cans full, and bathroom towels on the floor. The housekeeper nearby apologized and was not sure why the front desk said it was OK. Who knows? But, after six hours of driving, we wanted a place to put our bags and head out to dinner ... but, we had to wait. The housekeeper only took about 10-15 minutes to clean the room ... which was great. But, we then started wondering why it was not ready in the first place ... if the room could be cleaned so quickly. Oh well ... Second, the hotel is suppose to be smoke-free ... and, it appeared that they are trying to make efforts in this regard. However, several guests and even hotel staff would simply sit on the curb around the parking lot, smoke their cigarettes, and then leave their debris along the curbs. In our opinion, it would be better to create smoke "zones" and install cigarette urns in strategic locations for better visual appeal. And, we hate to say this ... but, staff should have specific areas for smoking, somewhat hidden from the public. Nothing looks more tacky than a business with smoking staff "hanging out" on curbs, by back doors, near dumpsters, etc. Third and finally, although hotels can be pet friendly, all pets need to stay outside or in the guest's room. We witnessed dogs in the hotel lobby, even during the breakfast hours. Not only is this inappropriate, but we believe that pets this close to food areas borders on illegal activities related to cleanliness. We LOVE animals and have pets ourselves, but there are areas for pets at hotels ... and, those areas should not include the lobby, breakfast area, or high visitor traffic locations. Will we stay at this LaQuinta again? Maybe, maybe not. As commented above, it's not bad. But, it's not outstanding either. Heck, there are about 15 other LaQuinta's in the Denver area, so we may try some of the other properties before coming back.

"Pleasant Stay"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 1, 2014

Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was cheerful, friendly, helpful. One minor plumbing problem -- a stopped up sink -- was repaired while we stepped out of the hotel for a couple hours of shopping. We really appreciated their concern and speedy attention to our needs.

"Not Clean"

Hotel is good value but the rooms are dirty at best. They also need to upgrade the beds. The rug was so dirty that I left black marks when I walked into bathroom on the tile floor. Air conditioner stopped working half way through stay.

"Pets and Paint Jobs"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 24, 2014
ConcourseC | Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
A convenient location by the freeway with a friendly staff, good breakfast and in dire need of exterior maintenance. The owner(s) obviously intends to squeeze all the profit out of it without doing the necessary upkeep called for by Denver's winters and the volume of temporary occupants. No reflection on the folks who staff the place, clean the pool and the rooms. The franchise should save money on the TV ads, and put them toward paint and fixing cracked, stained concrete. A positive feature of the location is that if you travel with a pet, there is a large field right next to the place. It could use some trimming and clean up as well, but it will 'serve' the four legged friends. There are restaurants close by, so food is no problem--avoid the Village Inn next door, if you can, but that's another story. The coffee in the room is subpar, and if you are a tea drinker, bring your own favorite tea bags or get them at breakfast.

"General Manager Serves By Example"
5 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 18, 2014

Upon first entering the attractive property, I saw that the staff and general manager (Tonya Thompson) worked well together as a professional team. There was no stalling or chit- chatting amongst themselves to give the guest a feeling of less importance. Everyone was on their "A game!" My reservation record was accurate and the check-in process was timely, efficient and genuinely courteous. My guest room was clean, comfortable, as were the bed and bedding. I requested a fridge for medical purposes and the general manager resolved my request to housekeeping without hesitation. The check-out process was timely, efficient, and I received a complete and accurate bill. How impressed I was to be thanked personally by T. Thompson for my brief stay, with encouragement to follow-up my LaQuinta rewards program. My Colorado medical stay proved to be productive, relaxing, and enjoyable!
