"Awful Hotel, Awful Service"

I booked this hotel for a trip to the area with my 13 year old daughter who needed medical tests at a nearby facility. We arrived at approximately 6pm on a Wednesday night. When we opened the door to our room, we were blasted with the smell of dog urine/odor. I'm allergic to dogs and sensitive to dog odor, but even my daughter was horrified. The smell was so bad, there was just no way we could have slept in the room.
I immediately called down to the front desk to ask for a different room. I was told that there were no other rooms available, that we had been assigned the last room, and that she would bring me some air freshener. I told her that between the smell and my allergies and asthma, some air freshener wasn't going to cut it. When she said again that there were no other rooms, I told her we would have to check out, because I couldn't sleep in this room. At that point, she told me that they don't give any refunds after check in so that I would have to pay for the room even if I left, and that all the hotels in the area were booked and I would "never" find a hotel room.
My daughter and and I went down to the front desk, and I asked to talk to a manager. I was told that at "this time of night" (6:10pm) there are no managers available on property or via telephone. I left my number and asked to have a manager call me ASAP. The front desk person again told me that they would not give me a refund, even though I was leaving the room 10 minutes after I checked in.
We left this hotel and checked in to a very nice Holiday Inn Express in the area (no shortage of rooms in the area as we had been told). I did not receive a call from a manager as I had requested, and it was two days later after sending two emails to corporate and completing the corporate email survey that I finally received a very terse email from the hotel saying "we didn't charge your card".
I really can't put in to words how awful the smell of urine was in this room. It made us gag, and I honestly would have slept in my car before sleeping in this room. This hotel needs to adjust the cleanliness standards of the property and fix the problems. If not, I hope La Quinta considers pulling the franchise. It's an embarassment to the chain.

I will say the staff I have encountered have been great from the evening girl to the night guy. The problems here are all about the owner Reshbi (I think it is) Cheap, cheap, cheap! First off I got into my room and the first time I used the card it worked and had the luggage cart with most of my stuff. I went down to get the rest without the cart which was several luggage bags and equipment bags ( I do videography for best of shows across the country) and when I got to the room the second time the card didn't work. So I lugged all the stuff I had down to the front desk. Was given new keys, lugged everything back up and red light city. No entrar. Turns out the batteries went dead in the lock in the door. After the front desk clerk trying to manage others finally was able to get things worked out. Then since I am a videographer, I set up my Apple to transfer files to our Hollywood studio only to find out not much is going on with the internet. I did a speed check and was getting .32 upload and .21 download. Nice. That is worse than dial up. Dial up should max at .54. Obviously this cheap owner thinks just because he has 'internet' thats all he has to do. Regular pages from the internet load up really sloooooow as you might imagine. What is the most concerning when it comes to these cheap owners is if they are this cheap with locks and internet, I can only imagine what goes into the breakfast food and chemicals they use in the rooms and what other corners they cut.
It amazes me this place gets good reviews. But then again there are those that you can pay to give great reviews.....
I stayed at this Le Quinta while traveling on assignment with my company. I'll be honest, I did not expect much. It was a brand I'd vaguely heard of and the rates were a little high for my liking. However, the service was excellent. Staff were friendly and courteous. My room was spotless and the pool was comfortably warmed. I also managed to stop in for the breakfast and was pleased to have an American-styled breakfast.
Overall this was a great stay. They covered my needs. I woke up refreshed and prepared for 3 mornings straight, ready for a full day of meetings. A+ motel. Thank you to all the staff at Le Quinta
Over the last few years I have been traveling extensively for both work and fun. I stumbled across this hotel when we were in the Austin area. Thinking it was far enough from the mess in Austin but close enough to go back and forth, my wife and I decided to pic this hotel based on the location. What luck !!! The hotel Staff are amazing. Walked in and we were greeted with genuine smiles and appreciation of picking their hotel. Got to our nice clean room, beds were nice. ( I asked them for the name of the manufacturer). Breakfast not your typical continental type, but close to what you would get in IHop. The next day we checked out and again the staff were amazing. Really friendly. We will be visiting again, thats for sure.
We do agree that pet owners need to have pet friendly hotels, however, there should also be a few rooms available that have not housed pets. We stayed here as part of a wedding party group. Our room had animal hairs on all the furniture and the bed spread and the carpet. In addition, their housekeepers need more training. They did not collect the used plastic glasses or wipe up the mess of previous clients in the bathroom. The breakfast room is far too small for the number of guest rooms; thankfully there is an I-HOP just down the street.
