"Ryan was a great help"

Ryan (front desk clerk) was very helpful in checking us in early as we had traveled 900 miles from Texas and my parents had traveled 850 miles from Idaho to meet for my Aunts 90th birthday. He made us feel welcome and even found us connecting rooms so early in the day upon arrival. I wanted to say thank you for a great stay, your rooms are very nice and clean. Thanks Ryan for your help with the terribly loud men on the third floor. Again Thank You.
"Out of the 50's decor, pets are great, but service and ?"

We went to this place for the first time. Read reviews and it scored 4's. Problem, it is not. We arrived early, our room wasn't ready. That is no problem, but we were told an hour and half it would be. Went away and came back an hour and half plus, room wasn't ready, another hour. Settle for a handicap room. The shower did not have a 2nd hook for the showerhead, so you have to hold it or get on your knees :-) The carpet is from the 50's. Breakfast was ok, they need help on coffee, weak, real week, the gas station across the lawn, has great coffee. Just not what I La Quinta's were. I always thought they were above a Super 8 etc. They are not, at least this one isn't.
We were told that the beds would be queens. They were doubles. I can tell because my husband and I have slept in a queen before, and we had no issues with both of us fitting on the bed. One of my legs had to constantly hang off of the side of this bed. We are not large people by any means. Also, the room was exceptionally small. They had repainted, but it was obvious that the building was deteriorating underneath the new coats of paint. Our room was on the back side of the hotel, which is inconveniently right across from a train track. We had difficulty sleeping due to the engines coming through all night and the small, uncomfortable beds. I have stayed in similarly priced hotels in this area, and this one is by far the worst.
The only redeeming quality was the continental breakfast which was still lacking. There was a wide variety of foods available (waffles, cereal, yogurt, muffins, etc...). However, this breakfast lacked any meaningful protein source (yogurt has a trivial amount of protein, but nothing compared to eggs).
The room was very clean. I felt comfortable sleeping between the sheets without fear of bedbugs. Even the floor was clean. I was disappointed that the little packet in the bathroom only contained coffee. I really needed some tea, but that's minor and could be improved by just adding a couple of teabags to the packet.
Since this hotel is located adjacent to I-25, there was a lot of road noise during the night. Otherwise everything was great and I would stay there again.
We stay at a lot of La Quintas and have stayed multiple times at this location. You can't beat the price and even though it is an older hotel, the rooms are always clean. Also, they have updated the rooms! New carpet, bedding, headboards, etc. I was very impressed. As for the front desk, the man who checked us in was super fast and efficient as well as friendly. The breakfast was nice, just the standard hotel fare, but we don't typically eat a large or fancy breakfast. One note of interest, there is a restaurant in the same parking lot that is absolutely excellent and worth checking out!
