I must say, I am baffled at the positive reviews of this hotel. My experience was anything but positive!
Last week I reserved a handicap-accessible room with two queen beds for my mother and I for two nights while dad was in the hospital. (My 80 yr old mother has limited mobility and uses a walker.) The clerk taking the reservation assured me they had an appropriate room and I guaranteed it with a credit card. When we arrived - about three hours later I was told - by the same clerk - that the room she had reserved for me was not going to be good for us because the tub/shower backs up and overflows. BUT she had a HC room with one king bed and a sleeper sofa. But, the sleeper sofa was broken, so they would give me an air mattress to put on the floor! The desk clerk brought out a wadded up air mattress and a battery operated pump. When I said that that arrangement was not going to work for us, they showed us a room with two queen beds, but it was not HC equipped - totally out of the question for my mother. The third room they offered me was the "Executive HC" room - on the 3rd floor. (There is an elevator, but it meant a longish walk (for someone using a walker) down a hall to the elevator and another walk to the room from the elevator.) When I entered this room, I was greeted by the sound of the refrigerator motor squealing very loudly. At that point I knew we were going to have to find another hotel for the night.
I have stayed at many La Quinta hotels in the past, and so was very surprised at the condition of this one. Not only were things broken in every room we saw, the sofa sleeper in room #1 was torn in several places and had what appeared to be black grease streaks on the cushions - not that it mattered - you couldn't sit on it anyway because it was so broken in the middle it looked like a hammock.
Other than her error in reserving me a room that was not usable, the desk clerk did her best to try to find something that would work for us - she just did not have much to work with. In my opinion, both the first HC room we were shown and the one we had reserved should have been taken offline until repairs were made. Even if my back could take it, when I am paying for a hotel, I do not want to camp out on an air mattress!
We ended up going across the highway where (thankfully) we were given a very nice, fully HC accessible room with two queen beds -- at a cost $20 less than the La Quinta!
I'm afraid I will not be able to recommend this La Quinta to anyone, and I would caution anybody to be leery of La Quinta in general as the quality seems to be variable at best.
Sorry, La Quinta, but this was a very bad experience for us.
We have stayed at this location 3 different times and each time we have had a great experience. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. We take our small dogs with us and are always able to get a first floor room so it's easier for taking them outside. The breakfast is always plentiful and has a wide array of foods to choose from. I highly recommend this LaQuinta location to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in this area. It's about 20 minutes from Austin and about 45 minutes to San Antonio.
If you are looking for a place that's near Austn, but away from all the city traffic, this La Quinta is the place to stay. Plus, the city of Kyle is also close to the outlets, and the ever famous Salt Lick BBQ in Driftwood Tx.
LaQuinta in Kyle La was very accomodating. Staff extremely friendly and easy check in and check out. From start of making reservations, staff were quite accomodating, helping me w/ directions, etc. I would recommend anyone to stay at this LaQuinta.
The stay was comfortable. The check in desk was overwhelmed with phone calls and guests when we arrived. There was no one to deflect the calls from front desk ladies. The room was comfortable and breakfast was fine.
