Great hotel--met our needs perfectly. Went shopping in San Marcos and to ride the glass bottom boats. This hotel was a great price, nice, clean, and safe. Only problem is the lighting is a little dim. Had a great breakfast with sausage, eggs, and toast. Hotel is out to itself and had plenty of parking. We will stay again when we travel to San Marcos, TX.

"Welcoming and Well-Managed Inn"

This rather new La Quinta is beautifully managed, resulting in a wonderful oasis of comfort that welcomes your pet. Clean, comfortable rooms with great beds, a microwave and refrigerator. A generous hot breakfast buffet every morning. If you are from the south, you will recognize the true kindness and willingness that is the hallmark of every member of the staff. The manager, Barbara, is a real jewel that clearly recognizes that same quality in her hires. Pets are loved here, and the hotel seems to attract happy guests thrilled to be able to travel with their best friends. Other than breakfast, you will have to drive to a restaurant or order delivery. Although on the feeder of I-35 north, you can't hear outside noises at all.

"What a waste to stay here"

My family and I visited the LaQuinta Kyle, TX location for the first time on Friday 3/12/2014 and check in by the desk agent Pearl was very pleasant and professional. When I made the phone reservations (as always) I told the reservation agent that we will be traveling with 2 small dogs as well as a ADA accessible room away from stairs, exit doors and elevators on the highest floor away from the noise. Pearl mention no notes were in the reservations and she only had 1 ADA accessible room on the 1st floor next to the side exit. Once we entered the suite we noticed the couch had noticeable tears on the cushions and the left side of the couch. I did bring this to Pearl's attention and she did take pictures and made a note of this issue. Since my family did not feel comfortable sitting on the couch they pulled it out and then noticed there was also a tear in the pullout bed as well, child art land food left in the fold of the pull out(which apparently had never been cleaned after the prior guest visit). Once again I had to involve Pearl and she took pictures again and even cleaned up what looked like bacon or some type of food from the pullout bed. Check out by the desk agent Laura(I think) was also very pleasant and professional. Well here it is Tuesday 3/18/2014 and the only response from this property is from the manager Barbara Newlin, General Manager addressing the reason the door slams shut is for safety well hello(I understand about safety but I am sure there is a way to barrier the noise from the room). Not once did she mention the issue of the uncleaned couch and pullout(that's a safety issue on it's own). I tell you LaQuinta is REALLY lacking in pleasing guests and their housekeeping. THANK goodness the staff that actual work with the public tries harder than the so called 'manager'. RIDICULOUS!!! The staff was amazing but the amenities and lack communication and sleep during this visit was very unpleasant. And also there is NOTHING in Kyle, TX other than a Home Depot and Cracker Barrel up the road.

"Completely disappointed."

I must say, I am baffled at the positive reviews of this hotel. My experience was anything but positive! Last week I reserved a handicap-accessible room with two queen beds for my mother and I for two nights while dad was in the hospital. (My 80 yr old mother has limited mobility and uses a walker.) The clerk taking the reservation assured me they had an appropriate room and I guaranteed it with a credit card. When we arrived - about three hours later I was told - by the same clerk - that the room she had reserved for me was not going to be good for us because the tub/shower backs up and overflows. BUT she had a HC room with one king bed and a sleeper sofa. But, the sleeper sofa was broken, so they would give me an air mattress to put on the floor! The desk clerk brought out a wadded up air mattress and a battery operated pump. When I said that that arrangement was not going to work for us, they showed us a room with two queen beds, but it was not HC equipped - totally out of the question for my mother. The third room they offered me was the "Executive HC" room - on the 3rd floor. (There is an elevator, but it meant a longish walk (for someone using a walker) down a hall to the elevator and another walk to the room from the elevator.) When I entered this room, I was greeted by the sound of the refrigerator motor squealing very loudly. At that point I knew we were going to have to find another hotel for the night. I have stayed at many La Quinta hotels in the past, and so was very surprised at the condition of this one. Not only were things broken in every room we saw, the sofa sleeper in room #1 was torn in several places and had what appeared to be black grease streaks on the cushions - not that it mattered - you couldn't sit on it anyway because it was so broken in the middle it looked like a hammock. Other than her error in reserving me a room that was not usable, the desk clerk did her best to try to find something that would work for us - she just did not have much to work with. In my opinion, both the first HC room we were shown and the one we had reserved should have been taken offline until repairs were made. Even if my back could take it, when I am paying for a hotel, I do not want to camp out on an air mattress! We ended up going across the highway where (thankfully) we were given a very nice, fully HC accessible room with two queen beds -- at a cost $20 less than the La Quinta! I'm afraid I will not be able to recommend this La Quinta to anyone, and I would caution anybody to be leery of La Quinta in general as the quality seems to be variable at best. Sorry, La Quinta, but this was a very bad experience for us.
