"Tear it down and start fresh"

The entire hotel needs renovated. From safety hazards down to cleanliness. It was one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. I hope they are planning to tear it down and start over. Cause for one night it was $95, this place should never be over $39-$49 bucks.

"I will not stay here again. .."

Air conditioner didn't work properly. Knobs didn't point to actual function. Breakfast was very poor. Scrambled eggs were not good and I have stayed at many hotels were eggs were not great but okay and eaten them. I didn't eat these. General state of disrepair in my room. Also the room and hallways smelled funny even with there attempts to cover up with scented sprays.

"Wear your bubble"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 20, 2014
Peter C |
Remember the bubble boy? I wanted a bubble of my own while walking the corridors and grounds of this slowly deteriorating future ruin. Surprisingly enough, our room was fine and had clearly been renovated more recently than much of the hotel. The hotel also was near capacity, as it is full every weekend with kids playing baseball at the nearby Ripken facility. So, the owners seem to be doing pretty well--but desperately need to invest some of those profits into the maintenance they have long deferred. The breakfast area, apparently one area of a larger, now-defunct restaurant, was clean and fairly attractive, and the food well served. Now to the bad. As others have noted, brick walkways are crumbling (and there's a fair bit of awalkway there)--not a problem that happens overnight but that is the result of sustained neglect. The pool was clean enough, but fencing was rusting pretty badly in spots with no touch up, and the landscaping in all but the very front of the hotel was really overgrown and shaggy: unmowed grass and bushes with long waving tentacles. The pool deck could have used some sprucing up--as with a simple coat of non-skid paint. I also spotted peeling paint on the building toward the back. You could take care of some of this by hiring a couple of teenagers with some lawn equipment. But the capper were the hallways, at least on the first floor. I'm not sure if they had had a flood, but the carpet sections were separated from each other (with flooring showing through) and very dirty (and when I walked outside the room in my socks, I discovered that the subfloor was the bumpiest I have ever felt). The wallpaper was scuffed, marked, dirty all over and even ripped a bit in some places. The hallways seemed to lack air conditioning and so were warm and quite humid, suggesting an environment that only a mite could love. In fact, management had apparently "addressed" this problem by positioning a row of dehumidifiers near outlets along the hall, though I believe their water containers were full and they weren't operating. I'm just grateful that the room was 10 times better than much of this place, or we would have been demanding our money back and would not have stayed. On a last note, I should observe that our bathroom simply reeked of cigarettes when we arrived, but the smell cleared within a couple of hours. But, I can't really hold management responsible.

"Clean and Comfortable"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 19, 2014
A La Quinta traveler |
I enjoyed my weekend stay at the Aberdeen LaQuinta. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable and I have absolutely no complaints.i have limited mobility and our lower level room was equipped with a handicapped toilet and a walk in shower! The breakfast was more than adequate having a choice of eggs, ham/sausage, fruit, bagels, pastries, cereals, yogurt, and my favorite-make your own waffles. There was apple and orange juice, coffee and tea also. My son and grand kids enjoyed the breakfast as well . We were all quite comfortable in our room, we felt safe, and will look for a LaQuinta on our next vacation. I am a new and loyal fan!

"In Dire Need and Renovation and an Abundance and Safety Issues"
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 13, 2014

My family stayed there on Friday 8/8/14 for one night as we were in town for a BBQ competition. Check In was easy and the staff was friendly. The lobby was also fairly nice. That is about where the good ends. Instead of a pretty lobby, they really need to upgrade their hotel. Our entrance (Entrance #2) included a sidewalk missing about 2/3 of its bricks. As anyone can imagine, this is a tripping hazard. Maybe hire someone to re-brick the walkway or at least post a sign because in the dark i would be very easy so someone to get hurt. Once inside our room, the rooms were old and in need of some new paint, curtains, carpet, etc. I did not find it particularly dirty, but it was definitely run down. While looking for an outlet to plug in our cell phones, I made a disturbing discovery. The wiring near the bed was daisy chained extension cords (one extension cord plugged into another) and they were not even 3-pronged grounded cords but the cheapest store brand cords you can get. This is considered a fire hazard (actually considering how old those cords looked it was probably several fire hazards). Also, one outlet was converted fro ma 2-plug face to a 6-plug face with one of those plug in outlets. Again, they went for the cheapest and least safe option instead of paying a few more dollars for at the very least an grounded and fused surge protector. Considering both a microwave and refrigerator were plugged into that outlet along with a lamp, an overload was just begging to happen. For those safety reasons, I can not give this property a good score.
