We wanted to be on the west side of Houston to avoid morning rush hour... Our mistake. We got a room on the freeway or north side, I asked if that was ok, and was told no problem. We were awakened at 355, to the hotels contract garbage dumpster truck beeping and banging. From this time forward, the traffic on freeway 10 was terrible, take a south room or choose another place. Rooms ending in 16 is also next to the elevator which in the morning can be heard clearly. Room was nice and clean but for the 20+ stains on the carpet. Little water pressure in the shower, wifi ok. Breakfast was just average in comparison to other La Quintas. There were eggs, but cold and dry lumps. The sausages also lukewarm. No yogurt or a noticeable garbage container. When advising of all this at checkout, was told, yes we know about these issues. AAA Cost with the 16% or so taxes, over 130$. A bit high for the quality, location and services.
I stayed at this hotel from the 17th to the 22nd of Feb. 2014 and I have to say I enjoyed my stay very much. The be was comfortable and the pillows were very nice. I have stayed to 5 star hotels before and the comfort of there beds and pillows rivals them, The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I would definitely stay here again if I had to return to Katy Texas.
We stay at a lot of La Quintas but this was unique. The property has its own dog park and child's playscape. The room was well-sized and comfortable. Coffee and tea are available 24/7 in the breakfast room and coffee in those pods is available in the room. In the evening there were snacks available. The breakfast was outstanding and way beyond the normal LQ breakfast. There were scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon as well as the normal cereals and waffle maker. The pastries were fresh and not the pre-packaged stuff. They did have pre-packaged pop tarts for the kids. Katy Freeway is VERY loud but our room at the back of the hotel was very quiet. We were happily granted a late check-out which was wonderful as my husband had medical tests and then a long break before doctor appointment so he was able to rest and relax. The location is close to a lot yet out of Houston. My only "complaint" is that it is a little hard to get to between Highway 99 and Mason Road. You have to circle around to come up the access road. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby and we even spent a little time at a park in Katy.
Due to flight delays we lost our original reservation at another hotel and found ourselves at the Katy LaQuinta. I had a bad feeling from the start as I noticed the majority of exterior doors on the fourth floor were badly scuffed and stained. Our suite was large but black fingerprints and makeup foundation fingerprints were everywhere. Hair was in the shower and a bug. We decided to tough it out and left for dinner. When we returned to our room, we opened the sofa bed for our children. I was beyond disgusted to find food, blood stains and dirt on the filthy sheets and blankets. We called the front desk who refused to look at the mess and told us to come downstairs for a new room. A room was re-assigned to us on the third floor. My husband checked out the sofa bed in the new room and it too was filthy and disgustingly dirt. Again, the staff refused to see it for themselves and my husband showed them pictures of both beds. We were then issued a room on the 2nd floor that was relatively clean and the sofa bed had clean linens. If this situation occurred in 2 out of 3 rooms, you have to wonder about the overall quality of the cleanliness of the entire property. We stayed at this site the year it opened but it clearly has gone totally down hill. I would give the hotel a "terrible" rating but the girl at the front desk was apologetic and it's not her fault that management is so poorly overseeing the janitorial staff. Suffice to say, we will never return.
Very nice property you can tell the management or owner takes great pride in the hotel. We had the two room suite. Very spacious. We have 5 children and we were able to setup 2 full size rollaway beds in the living room area. Rollaway bed is only $10 for the entire stay well worth it. The pull out couch was not comfortable so we didn't use it after the first night. Has a microwave and mini fridge. Then my husband and I had a private bedroom with king size bed (very comfortable). They have a really nice Rainbow play system outside if you have children. Also a real nice little dog park that is fenced in right on the property. Breakfast is included. Pretty normal nothing special. Have a little snack during the week in the evening from
5-7 nothing to wait around for ( very nice that they do it) pink lemonade, goldfish, Doritos, tortillas chips and veggies straws. They have a pool but it was too cold to swim. Business center and laundry on site also.
