We arrived here late in the evening, and were very happy to find the La Quinta Inn, as a lot of places were sold out because of a basketball tournament! The Inn was not the cheapest price in town, but also not the most expensive. We booked for two nights and were very pleased. The gentleman at the front desk we very helpful at check-in, even though he was very busy. The room was large, clean, and very comfortable. We were happy to have working internet, coffee maker, microwave, mini fridge, and a nice flat screen TV. The breakfast was above average of a continental. We were very happy to have found this place and if we are in the area again, we will definitely stay.
I came to Provo for training with my boss and a coworker and stayed at La Quinta Provo Town Center. It's a nice Hotel with lots of options for food all around. You have a mall at a 2 block walking distance and a restaurant next door (Try the Fillet Mignon and Strawberry Lemonade). The service is great, the breakfast is delicious and on time.
Rooms are clean and comfortable. The pillow top bed is the best. They put 6 or 7 Pillows on the bed. You get High speed internet connection in the hotel. If you are in the area for business or pleasure visit this hotel.
We have stayed in Provo many times, but this was our first stay here, and we will be back. It was less expensive than most hotels that we have stayed at in this area. We had a reservation for 1 room, for 1 night and then needed to add another room at the last minute. They were able to give us adjoining rooms which made it nice to visit with our adult kids for the evening. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We decided to have breakfast at Kneaders, so we didn't take advantage of the free breakfast so I can't comment on that. It was a great stay.
After an 11 drive from CA we were so tired when we arrived. We were welcomed by a cozy reception area with a lovely fire going. Check-in was timely and we were in our room and in our pjs within a half hour. The bed was very comfortable with a nice selection of pillows and impeccably clean. We always stay at LaQuinta when traveling with our small Havanese dog. Many times other hotels do not have the same standards of cleanliness that LaQuinta has.
Breakfast was the best of any LaQuinta that we have stayed. We were on our free night with our rewards so we do stay at many different LaQuinta hotels. What made the breakfast extra special was the Hostess Vene. She was so cheerful and offered to serve us
Waffles and was so very attentive.
We will definitely choose the Provo location for our nights stop when heading back to Jackson Hole again.
If I were just rating this place on the accommodations, and ignoring the service, I'd give it a 2.5. The lobby was nice enough, made a good first impression until you walked into the women's restroom and smelled the sewage - but you don't sleep in the lobby. You sleep in the room, and the beds weren't comfortable at all. We had a two-queen room, and I switched to the other bed in the middle of the night hoping for a better night's sleep. No luck. The rattling heater fan didn't help. The breakfast the next morning was free, which was its most appealing quality. But it WAS free, so no real complaints. It's hard to screw up cereal.
The customer service, though, is what earned this place the terrible rating from me. I'd booked two adjoining rooms for the weekend so that we could have a special treat trip with my step children. We'd planned on arriving in Orem around 7PM, picking up the kids, having some dinner and heading to the hotel for an early night before heading up skiing on Saturday and Sunday. Unfortunately, we got a flat tire on our way across the Nevada desert, and by the time we dug out the jack and changed out the flat in a blizzard, we'd burned through more than an hour. We decided to adjust our plans rather than dragging the kids out so late, pick them up the next morning, and go on with our weekend as planned. No big deal.
Unfortunately, cell phone service is spotty where we got the flat, and I wasn't able to get a signal to call the hotel until 5:45 local time. It was 6:45 Provo time, and the guy at the front desk wouldn't let us cancel our reservation for the second room. Provo was largely sold out that night because of a school event of some nature (it's how I ended up booking at the La Quinta), but he wouldn't even consider being flexible on that point. He told me that he'd rather turn away a would-be guest rather than rent him our un-needed second room.
When we finally arrived at the hotel, covered in mud from our flat tire adventure, I cancelled our second night's stay. The man's inflexibility cost the hotel $160 for that Saturday night, and I hope it costs them your business as well. We booked a beautiful room at the Holiday Inn Express - a beautiful facility in all ways, and our new go-to hotel when we ski with the kids.
Was the hotel within its rights to refuse to cancel our second room night the first night of our trip? Absolutely. Their cancellation policy is outlined clearly when you reserve a room. Does that mean that they shouldn't take circumstances into consideration and treat customers like valued guests rather than just "numbers" and "room nights"?
See my review of the Townhouse Motel in Weed, California for a hotelier who handled things much, much differently. I'd gladly stay at his place again. La Quinta has seen the last of my business.
