We arrived after 9:00 PM on Sunday. I had requested a handicapped room on the first floor for my mom. We had a non handicap room on the 3rd floor at the end of the hall. I should have left then. When we entered our room and was putting things away my mom found a penny in the floor and I found a hair pin along with dog food and small pieces of paper. The alarm clock and the entry light worked off the same switch so you either had an alarm clock and didn't use the entry light or you used the entry light and set the alarm clock each time. When we awoke the next morning without the use of their alarm clock, we saw that it wasn't just the carpet that hadn't been vacuumed but the bathroom floor hadn't been swept either. When you turned on the bathroom sink be ready for a shower. I turned in the problem with the sink and the floors before we left for the day. When we returned Monday afternoon neither floor had been swept nor had the sink been fixed, but the beds had been made so we knew housekeeping had been there. We then noticed something had been splashed on the glass of the picture above one of the beds. The A/C had stuff in the vents which really looked gross. Our family runs a #1 rated by Travel Advisor Hotel so I know that this was just poor training in housekeeping or an employee who is there just for some money. I asked to speak to the manager and was told they would give him my message. The house keeping carts were not clean and organized like they should have been or fully equipped with all supplies. I'm just saying that with some professional training the staff behind the desk and housekeeping could do a better job. Each day when we left around 9-10 AM the trash had been pulled from the trash cans out front and put by the front door. NOT A GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION! Would I stay THERE again? Not unless there are some changes. Look at the housekeeping carts.. If they are clean and organized then they care about their job and what they are responsible for; the rooms. If they are messy then so will the cleaning of your room. And if you pull up front and see trash in bags and no one taking care of them or taking them to the trash containers then chances are they won't be taking care of you either. If sometime during your stay a staff member doesn't ask how is your stay or if they can do anything to make your stay better they have not been professionally trained and need that training. No one should ever have to wait at the front desk and EVERY TIME should be greeted with a smile "Good (morning, afternoon, evening)my name is _______,how may I help you today?" .... and at the end they should tell you their name again and tell you if you need anything what hours they are working and they would be more than pleased to assist you in anyway they can. That my friend is why my family's Hotel Borger Ambassador Inn is rated #1:)
I stayed one Saturday night in June with my husband and 2 kids.
The good: The hotel appeared to be fairly new. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The desk clerks were very nice. The pool was clean, if a bit small and isolated, although I assume that would keep loud swimmers noise away from the rooms.
The bad: The only nearby restaurant required a walk across a dirt field. The spa was barely warm and no one seemed to know how to turn it on when the switch didn't work. The handicapped accessible room I needed was on the 3rd floor and I had to wonder how I would manage to get downstairs in an emergency. The room had a regular step-in tub, although it did have grab bars, and did not have the hand-held shower head it was supposed to have, so I had no way to bathe. It was only for one night, so I wasn't too upset, but I don't know what I would have done during a longer stay. When we were at the pool, I sent my daughters to the desk for pool towels and they had a hard time finding anyone. Several times when I went through the lobby area, the desk was unattended. Our room keys were remade twice and never would work on the exterior doors, which I found propped open twice, presumably by equally frustrated guests..
The UGLY: Breakfast. I have never had a worse experience at any hotel breakfast in my life. Walking in, the tables and chairs were strewn haphazardly around the room, exactly as they had been the day before when we arrived. The bread for toast was cheap white bread, carelessly squished into the bread box. There were no containers of butter for toast or cream cheese for bagels, although there were, inexplicably, packets of mayonnaise and mustard. The only butter available was the liquid butter provided for waffles, which simply does not work on toast. The bacon was room temperature and appeared to be precooked bacon that had been dumped into the steam tray directly from the package. There were biscuits and a slow-cooker labeled "gravy," but it was empty. The coffee was possibly the worst I have ever attempted to drink and was barely lukewarm. There was no yogurt, which is typically a staple at La Quinta breakfasts. I don't recall the cereal choices, but they odd and weren't anything my family would eat. There was no instant oatmeal. There was no cocoa for the children. Everything on the buffet counter was just kind of crammed into places haphazardly, with empty containers and packages among the food. There was no attendant and twice a uniformed employee walked through the breakfast area and completely ignored my cries of, "Excuse me!" when I attempted to get some assistance. There was no one at the front desk to ask for help. It looked and tasted so awful that we went left and elsewhere for breakfast.
The next time I stay in the McKinney area, I will probably stay elsewhere because of the poor breakfast and rude morning staff in the breakfast room..
For three days there was no butter or syrup at breakfast and the coffee was cold. I told one of the employees and she said they were out. She said she told the manager.
Our room was not clean. There was no place for the toilet paper. The whole motel was not
clean. In front of the elevator your feet stuck to the floor.
My daughter and granddaughter stayed for 2 nights. It was a clean hotel with a good breakfast. The staff was friendly. The hotel was in a good location, close to expressways and toll roads to get you any where quickly or as quick as possible in the Dallas area.
This hotel was very comfortable and the price was good because it was close to our event. Every thing was good except they ran out of syrup for the waffles. Hotel staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. We stayed on the fourth of july and a firework show was very close by. The hotel had hotdogs and drinks for us during the show. I always stay at this location.
