Close to ohare with free shuttle service and great staff and indoor poo highly recommend . Dunkin donut, hibachi Grill and other moderate family oriented eating places are close by. i was preparing to leave the country for a humanitarian aid mission conducting the 19th annual A Call to Serve Georigan Children's diabetic education camp and one of four suitcases loaded with supplies for camp was damaged as i flew in from missouri.l the front desk helped me find a local inexpensive luggage store and i purchase a sale replacement suitcase. the helping front desk staff especially Sunjay are knowledge, engaged in helping their guests and nice people
My wife, son and I stayed at the La Quinta Inn located at 1900 E Oakton Street in Elk Grove Village, IL, on 06/20/2014 for one night to take advantage of the park and fly service as we were leaving the next day for Korea to take custody of our second son whom we are adopting.
Our initial stay was quite pleasant. We enjoyed the room and the pool and remarked how comfortable the bed was. Breakfast the next morning was serviceable and the van promptly left at 8am as we were told. We arrived at the airport in plenty of time and were quite pleased with the service. Our driver even gave us instructions to wait downstairs from where he dropped us off and to call the hotel once we passed through customs.
After our all night flight back to Chicago and passing through customs, I called the hotel and gave my name and that we arrived at the international terminal. After some initial confusion, the person at the hotel confirmed our location, asked us to wait outside door 5E and our driver would be there within 20 minutes.
After 45 minutes, I began to wonder where the driver was. I allowed extra time in case he was at a point where he couldn't turn around and get to us. I called the hotel again after 60 minutes and was assured the driver would be there in 5 to 10 minutes. After 20 minutes, I called again, spoke with a lady who I later found out was the manager who got the driver on the phone and said it would be 5 minutes. Shortly thereafter, the driver showed up and we loaded up to retrieve our car.
That's when the excuses began to fly. The driver insisted that he only knew about our arrival on the last call. He commented that he seldom goes to the international terminal because there is seldom anyone waiting which is why we needed to call. I said that I did call three times and waited for over 90 minutes. He said he would say something to the manager as this wasn't the first time the front desk clerk didn't call him.
I left it until we returned to the hotel. I went in and asked for the manager. It appeared that the clerk needed to insist she came out. Once she did, I simply asked for her card and said that I am very tired and I am going to go home, but I will contact her again in a couple of days once I'm thinking clearly and rested to discuss the issue. The desk clerk then said that the driver was already passed us after the first call to which I simply asked why it took two more calls then and why did he say he was never contacted? The manager then asked if we were staying the night and I explained that we had already stayed and really just want to go home. She then pointed to a shuttle van policy and said that she couldn't give me a refund.
I then said that I will be in contact and walked out. Perhaps the most frustrating thing of the entire process is that no one owned the mistake and no one apologized for making my wife and two sons wait for over 90 minutes at the airport outside by a busy road. I never asked for a refund - and to lead off with that is extremely poor customer service and frankly is insulting.
I don't judge a company by their mistakes. They happen. No one is perfect. What I judge them by is how they handle them when they happen. And based on this, Hamida Sadruddin and the entire staff of the La Quinta Inn Elk Grove Village failed me and my family and insulted me as they did so. Further, I feel as though the corporation of La Quinta Inn failed me as they did not properly train their staff to deal with mistakes as they happen or to apologize to their customers and to own their mistakes.
As a result of this, I will never stay at another LaQuinta Inn. Ever.
It was busy weekend for the inn. The shuttle from the airport was not on schedule and then not on time according to the time given by the inn office.
The king bed room I had and its bathroom were large and clean. Everything was what you'd expect from an inn of this price range.
If you are there without a car, it may be very inconvenient. They don't let you use the shuttle to get to the airport from where it's easy to catch the subway. There is a bus that can take you to a subway station. It's an option if you have time and patience.
We were flying into Chicago O'Hare and we called two days in advance to make sure that their airpot shuttle would pick us up. We arrived in Chicago and called them to confirm that they were coming to get us. They said that they would be there in a half hour and told us to wait at the shuttle pick-up area. After 45 minutes we called again and were told that the shuttle was on its way. By this time it was 1 a.m. and we were starting to get nervous. we kept calling and they put us on hold for 10 minutes and never called us back. Finally at 2 in the morning we decided to just take a cab because the women at the front desk told us she didn't know where the shuttle was. By this time the cabs had stopped running and we had to walk several blocks to find a taxi. We arrived at the La Quinta after taking a cab ride that cost more then our room only to find that the shuttle was parked right out front. By this time it was 2:30 in the morning and we were starving and exhausted. The front desk knowingly left us in the murder capital of the United States for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I have driven across the country and back 6 times in my life and stayed in countless hotels. This by far, was the worst service and stay that I have ever experienced. I highly recommend that you go anywhere else but here. No hotel should leave a family on the side of the road.
We have stayed here twice now and have had good experiences both times! We appreciated the short drive and easy access to and from the airport. During our first stay we had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor and both were very acceptable. Last night for our 2nd stay we were first given a room on the first floor that smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Upon requesting a different room, front desk staff kindly gave us another room on the 2nd floor and it smelled much cleaner. My only complaint would be that the coffee offered at breakfast tastes instant, and I really wish they could offer a more quality coffee. Thank you.
