"worst experience ever! left us at the airport!"

We were flying into Chicago O'Hare and we called two days in advance to make sure that their airpot shuttle would pick us up. We arrived in Chicago and called them to confirm that they were coming to get us. They said that they would be there in a half hour and told us to wait at the shuttle pick-up area. After 45 minutes we called again and were told that the shuttle was on its way. By this time it was 1 a.m. and we were starting to get nervous. we kept calling and they put us on hold for 10 minutes and never called us back. Finally at 2 in the morning we decided to just take a cab because the women at the front desk told us she didn't know where the shuttle was. By this time the cabs had stopped running and we had to walk several blocks to find a taxi. We arrived at the La Quinta after taking a cab ride that cost more then our room only to find that the shuttle was parked right out front. By this time it was 2:30 in the morning and we were starving and exhausted. The front desk knowingly left us in the murder capital of the United States for 2 hours in the middle of the night. I have driven across the country and back 6 times in my life and stayed in countless hotels. This by far, was the worst service and stay that I have ever experienced. I highly recommend that you go anywhere else but here. No hotel should leave a family on the side of the road.
We have stayed here twice now and have had good experiences both times! We appreciated the short drive and easy access to and from the airport. During our first stay we had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor and both were very acceptable. Last night for our 2nd stay we were first given a room on the first floor that smelled like stale cigarette smoke. Upon requesting a different room, front desk staff kindly gave us another room on the 2nd floor and it smelled much cleaner. My only complaint would be that the coffee offered at breakfast tastes instant, and I really wish they could offer a more quality coffee. Thank you.
We gathered in Chicago for a family member surprise birthday party. We came in from Las Vegas and San Antonio. Our party was there 5 nights, renting a total of five rooms. The staff was always polite and mostly helpful. The beds were comfortable. We had to search for a working ice machine as it varied from day to day. The shower head was hanging loose from the wall and, at 5' 8" I had to bend considerably to rinse to terrible shampoo/conditioner combo product out of my hair. No type of lotion was provided and the bar soap was even smaller than usual and very bad quality. The wall mounted air conditioner was noisy, did not cool down the room when set at 60, and the room humidity was terrible. Every day someone in our group had to get their room key re-coded as they constantly de-magnetized themselves. The in room coffee was limited to one small cup..period. And one day the coveted one cup had not be replenished by the maid during the room cleanup. One ply (and I mean thin) toilet paper and tissue was the worst ever. I don't mean to nit pik, but this hotel does not provide a pen and paper pad in any room. The rooms are very reasonably priced...I now know why.
Was in town for a conference at the McCormick Convention Center. I didn't mind not staying near the Convention Center since the $28 week-long CTA Public Transit Pass made commuting tolerable. Missed the continental breakfast each morning due to a 5 AM or 6 AM shuttle to the O'Hare Airport CTA Station each day. Room was comfortable, especially the bed, but the room smelled like there had been a smoker in the room previously and I had requested a non-smoking room. I had also indicated an upper floor preference on the reservation form but was given a room on the ground floor. Since I was only there to sleep and I arrived in Chicago late, it wasn't a big deal and I was too tired to request a room change. Front desk personnel was friendly and professional. Biggest gripe I had was the Airport Shuttle service. Although free, it ran only once an hour, on the hour, from the hotel. If you were waiting to take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel and just missed its once-an-hour trip, you had to wait almost an hour for the next shuttle. When calling the front desk from the airport to request the shuttle, they often underestimated the wait time. Because the shuttle only runs once an hour, the shuttle to the airport was often full. The van only had room for 8 or 9 so if you weren't fortunate enough to reserve one of those spots, you had to either take the hour-earlier or hour-later shuttle. Twice, the shuttle driver had a passenger he had picked up from another hotel which was not fair to those staying at La Quinta. La Quinta guests should have had priority. Finally, the evening shuttle driver has a bit of a lead foot. One evening, he buzzed by a Police Officer who yelled at him to slow down, but I don't think he heard him. The Airport Shuttle Service problem can easily be solved by running a shuttle every 1/2 hour and by having the shuttle drive slow down when driving through the airport, especially since airport traffic seems extremely congested regardless of the hour.
Very bad customer service. Air not working and was not fixed for 24 hours. Breakfast always late. Traffic really bad around this area. Was told to wait half hour to check out to receive a receipt. this was a business trip
