We made reservations at this hotel as we drove home from our Florida vacation. We reserved a King Bed room. We arrived around 5:00, and were told that our room 'may not be ready yet' and we may have to wait, because they couldn't possibly give us a different room that was ready. Luckily, after the person at the desk actually walked upstairs to check, we didn't have to wait... when we got up to the room, it wasn't a King bed room (so we aren't sure why we wouldn't have been able to get another room if this one wasn't ready), so with 2 beds, the room was pretty crowded. The remote control to the TV didn't work. We changed the TV with the controls on the side of the TV instead of complaining, because we assumed they couldn't give us another room. The next morning, the toilet wouldn't flush.
There was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom and there was not a remote control for the tv. there was no paper or a pen in the room for notes. Approached the desk clerk on the day of checkin of who was no help in finding the remote control or the bathroom supplies. had to go to bed without a shower. the next morning, i approached the desk clerk who was helpful but ran aound for over 20 minutes trying to find a remote control and bath supplies. she checked many storage areas on the first floor but could not locate either. she contact other hotel staff, received the location of the items but that location did not have the items either. she finally had to travel to another floor to find the bath supplies. she never could find a remote control. Certainly the cost of the room at $95 + taxes was excessive for this type of service.

We are elite members at laQuinta do to the fact that we travel quite often with our two little dogs. Both dogs weigh less than twelve pounds and are better behaved than some children we've witnessed staying at hotels. We stayed at this location two years ago and thought it was okay so we booked it again for our return trip from Florida. Boy was that a mistake! First the outside grounds and front of the hotel was dirty and unappealing. The lobby was also dirty with pee stains on the furniture which was in extreme need of updating. Next, we were assigned a room on the 3rd floor, the "dog floor". We have never been made to stay on a particular floor do to traveling with pets. The smell was horrendous when you opened the door, not a dog smell but a very musty smell. The carpet was filthy with stains everywhere, stains thats I feel pretty sure have been there awhile. The front desk advised that the carpets were cleaned 3 weeks earlier, however I find that hard to believe. The door handle to the bedroom fell off when we opened the door, fortunately we were able to get it back on. The bath tub had a dirt ring around it and part of the porcelain missing. If you must stay here don't stay in room 328. I can't speak on what the other rooms may have looked like. I will give the front desk lady credit, she was very nice and after all of my complaining did offer to let us change rooms. We stuck it out because we had already brought our things in and didn't know if the next room would have been any better. Our daughter was with us and she was advised that kids had been jumping on the sofa bed so she might want them to bring her a roll-away. She opened up the sofa bed to check it out and there was a red discoloration on it. She asked for the roll-away. The front desk clerk agreed that the hotel was in desperate need of remodeling....it needed a complete overhaul if you ask me. The pool was also not usable. I will say the breakfast area was clean and the breakfast was okay. But we will NOT be staying here until the place is completely renovated and we are not made to stay on the 3rd floor just because we travel with our pets. There are laQuintas in Hoover and in Prattville that are in much better shape and not out of our way. Avoid this place until it is remodeled. It was nice once and I am sure it could be again.
My family travels a lot and since we have dogs we stay at LQ hotels due to their dog friendliness. As an Elite member I have become accustomed to 1. being greeted as an Elite member 2. express check in and 3. Free bottled water. These are things that I am supposed to receive as an Elite member but I did not receive any of these at this hotel. At check in I was told I had a 1st floor room until they found out that I had my dogs. Then we were moved to the 3rd floor. Why would you put dogs on the 3rd floor of a hotel? Although we were told that the pool was open I did not allow my children to swim in it due to the fact that the water level was below the filter so the water was not being filtered. I was told that the chemicals were at the correct level so we could swim in it... When I asked why the pool level was low the manager stated that the filler nozzle had been broken and that she did not have a water hose that she could use... We have stayed at this hotel before but the service and cleanliness of the hotel have gone down.
I've stayed here on numerous occasions, on average about 3-4 weeks a year. Over the years the hotel has gone down. My coworkers wrote them off over the summer, but as an Elite member I continued to stay. Here are the problems with my last stay and the reason I've chosen to go some where else from now own. I was not greeted as an Elite customer and told the Railroad was priority. The lady on the front desk continued to cut me off before I could ask a question; her customer service needs work. Yes they accept dogs, but on the 3rd floor only. We don't want to disturb the railroad on the 2nd floor. Clean rooms? Ha. We had to switch rooms a few times. Switched rooms a couple times due to hair in the bed when we pulled the sheets back. In two rooms the sheets had quarter size holes in them. In one room they were almost thread bare. One room that had been "cleaned" still had poop splatter in the toilet! Finally got a clean room. When I notified the front desk manager I got an excuse for the condition, no apology. Taking my business elsewhere.
