"Remodel complete - hotel is MUCH better than it was 2 years ago!"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 16, 2014

We've been staying at this La Quinta a couple times a year for the past 2+ years. The first time we stayed in 2012, I almost decided to never return. The place was under construction, everything was torn up and/or covered up, construction noise ran from dawn 'til dusk, only 1 elevator worked, the buffet was creepy (except for the Texas shaped waffles) and the room prices were what you'd expect from a nice, finished hotel. Fast forward to our return to Austin a few months later and my decision to give this place another chance. We were pleasantly surprised! All the renovations were complete, and the place looked great! Most recently we stayed at this location Labor Day weekend 2014. Unbeknownst to us, it was also the first Longhorns game of the season, so the hotel was at capacity. That said, things were still quiet & clean with top notch customer service. The women who run the breakfast buffet need a raise, seriously. That place was an absolute ZOO, but those ladies kept everything stocked, hot/cold and delicious. Each day there were 3 choices of hot items - breakfast burrito, kolaches, BACON (seriously, REAL bacon!), hash browns. Plus 2 waffle makers, bagels, bread, oatmeal, cereal, muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, apple & orange juice, milk -- a really substantial buffet. Tables were cleaned as quickly as they were vacated. It would have been nice if someone from maintenance would have emptied the trash - all cans were literally overflowing. My ONLY complaint about the breakfast was that hours weren't extended on the holiday, especially considering the hotel was at capacity. This is the ONLY La Quinta I've ever been to in all our years of patronizing La Quinta that treated a holiday as a normal weekday. An inconvenience to say the least. Housekeeping was GREAT. We had 2 dogs with us, and a room cannot be cleaned if occupied by any pet(s). We couldn't take the dogs with us (heading to the Austin Aquarium). My husband asked one of the Housekeepers if she could clean our room out of sequence while we waited with the dogs in the lobby, and she did! We were able to stick to our schedule, met up with our family/friend on time and went about our day thanks to the accommodating housekeeping staff! GRACIAS! Even with the hotel at max capacity there was ample parking. Note to travelers - this La Quinta has a little "snack/essentials" store in the lobby. Albeit pricey, they have about anything you could possibly have forgotten and need, plus snacks & drinks. Overall, everything was clean, staff was friendly, hotel was QUIET (not a single deranged fan or yapping dog) and the ice maker always had ice despite my seeing oodles of people filling coolers. Another nice feature? The Coke machines on each floor allowed purchase of items with "MyCokeRewards" points! Two thumbs up, La Quinta Austin North!

This hotel has new upgrades that rock and the place is spotless. The staff is top notch and extremely helpful. Best place to stay in Austin if you want to shop in Round Rock and still be close to down town.

"Nice staff, reasonable place, great price, tough to get to when using Garmin"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Sep 5, 2014

The property sites where two elevated freeways cross each other. I had read that of others having difficulty getting into the parking lot. I too experienced the same as I passed by the Hotel several times as my Garmin led me to the wrong exit. Success took 10 minutes after I turned off the Garmin and circled the location several times trying different exits and land routes. The hotel accommodations were acceptable. The only downfall is that the fourth floor room was at the same level as one of the elevated freeways several hundred yards away. I'm happy i always bring ear plugs to sleep. This location was extremely convenient to my business meetings and a few restaurants were within easy walking distance.

Full disclosure: I typically avoid La Quinta properties because I've had some very bad experiences with them (i.e. VERY unclean rooms/properties) However, the great reviews and recent remodel of this property made me reconsider, and I'm so glad I did! The staff was extremely nice and the room was one of the cleanest I've ever been in. I think the 2nd floor is the designated pet floor, but it was still very quiet (except for the occasional bark in the hallway). Free breakfast in the morning, free wifi, and pets stay free -- all for less than a third of the cost of downtown hotels on Labor Day weekend. Speaking of which, you're right on I-35, which takes you straight downtown in less than 10 minutes. Very, very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this stay! Many thanks!

This is one of the best La Quinta's, I've stayed at in awhile. They staff was very friendly! Will come back to this La Quinta each time, I come back to Austin. They have a mini-shop with food and other needs which I thought was nice. My room was very spacious, clean, and NEW! Everything here is nice!
