The writing was on the wall?.(and a dead insect too)
Travel can be an arduous task for anyone if you don?t prepare well in advance, but when you are traveling with someone with limited capacity, in this case someone that is disabled, preparation and customer service are vital to ensure a safe, productive and enjoyable trip.
After a five hour flight, arriving well after midnight, it was of the utmost importance to make sure that my disabled companion had a comfortable night?s rest in order to mitigate injury, but nothing about our stay was comfortable. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Upon arrival, It took over an hour to check in, an eternity when you are traveling with someone who by necessity after a 5 hour flight has to lie down.
The desk agent claimed she could not find the reservation and quoted a rate three times the amount I had paid online. When I showed her the printout, she stated ?it didn?t matter that I had reserved it online because I had not really paid for it yet, I had only reserved it,? and she would not honor my reservation. She never offered to call customer service to inquire or to assist us in any way, instead she assured us that she ?would not honor our reservation, especially not on a weekend with a big event.? I even opened up my laptop and showed her the email directly from La Qunita to prove to her that I reserved the room, but she still she did not care or even bother to call anyone to verify. She remained loud and irrational, refusing to listen to anything I had to say about the reservation and took no consideration regarding my pleas that my companion needed to lie down immediately. I had to call the national customer service number and speak to an agent on the phone and explain the situation just so that I could check into the hotel. It was beyond frustrating and even frightening that we could possibly be stranded. It was only after the customer service agent on the phone called the hotel back and spoke to the desk agent that the desk agent agreed to honor the reservation and check us in. But of course, the desk agent refused to honor the king-plus room (necessary for my disabled partner) I had reserved and we were given a room with two double beds, but at this point we had no choice because my companion had to lie down or risk injury.
After all the mayhem, our room came with the following amenities:
- a dead insect
- a broken television (half the screen was illuminated, the other was a blur)
- a filthy shower curtain
- a bloody window curtain
- filthy carpet
- phone when in and out (making it impossible to call the front desk)
- CIBOLA FOOTBALL player?s underwear stuck to the mattress
I couldn?t help but wonder if the desk agent put us in this room as a form of retaliation for having to honor our reservation? One bed was clean and we went to sleep and tried to make the best of it?but then the toilet broke on our second day there! When I went to the front desk to explain that this was beyond unacceptable, instead of an appropriate customer service response, the manager rudely and aggressively confronted me about my response time to alerting her to the numerous issues during our stay. Why should I have to explain to her that my priority was making sure my disabled travel companion was comfortable (something her hotel failed to do) and taking care of the business that I had scheduled? Instead of offering to change our room or even apologize, she stated rudely that ?I should have come to her sooner? and insinuated that it was our fault that we were unhappy and uncomfortable. Was it our fault that the room was filthy and that the desk agent lacked any and all customer service skills?
When we returned to our room, the toilet was fixed and housekeeping had removed the football player?s underwear, but the television remained broken, we had to play with the cord to get a dial tone on the phone, the wall remained stained and the shower curtain and window curtains remained soiled.
I would never recommend this location or La Quinta to anyone and I will never return to a La Quinta. Our trip was ruined by the complete lack of customer service.
And the HELLISH experience continues since my credit card was charged not once, not twice but THREE TIMES.... ABSOLUTE HELL!!
I would most definitely be staying here again when I take another trip to New Orleans. The hotel is nice , easy to find, very clean, and the people at the front desk was nice. I REALLY ENJOYED MY STAY!!!!!
The front desk staff at this hotel are excellent very helpful! They were good at giving recommendations and directions even printing out maps. The hotel was a good value and clean! Easy to find and safe parking. Will definetly stay here again!
I think this Hotel is an excellent value for the area. Easy to get to, and friendly service. The towels could be a little thicker but other than that it was great and I will definitely stay there again.
We traveled for a Christmas week in NOLA and totally loved it! The hotel is located across the river in Gretna, but it's very conveniently located just off Highway 90. It's a 5 minute drive to downtown New Orleans. Staff is very friendly, rooms are very clean and beds are just excellent!
Hotel is located just besides a nice mall in case you want to do some shopping.
