We stayed here for 3 nights during the French Quarter music festival in April. The hotel room was decent and as expected. The breakfast was pretty good as was the pool. The hotel was located near the Gretna ferry which provided good access to the French Quarter.
The first night of our stay, someone attempted to steal our bike which was locked to our vehicle on a Thule bike rack. Hotel security interrupted the attempted theft and recovered a bike tire which had been removed from the bike and rack by the would be thief. Unfortunately, some damage was done to our bike rack by the attempted thief. The hotel manager apologized for the incident and very nicely offered us a complimentary night to allow us time to get our bike rack repaired. The Pedal Shop, a local bike shop, was great and helped us out.
All's well that ends well and thanks for the help.
This is another older Hotel. It is 'L' shaped structure, with 2 and 3 story wings. The lower rooms are drive up to the door units. It continues toi amaze me, that they can keep these olkder Hoitels, in such good order. The maintenance, and housekeeping staff, must pull off some miracles, to kjeep things in such good order. I arrived here early from Mobile Alkabama, and the front desk staff pulled some strings,to get me a roomthat was ready. The rooms, in spite oif being older, were in pristine condition. My room had a king bed, recliner, work station, micro,& fridge, and flat screen t.v. I can't say enough about how helpful the front desk staff were. They gave me accurate directions to the French Quarter [just across the bridge], and to local dining esrtablishments, offering Cajun food.In spite of being next to a shopping plaza, there were vast areas of green space. Breakfast was mainly cold offerings, due to the heat, but you still make your own waffles. other offerings included, choice of cerals, yogurts, boiled eggs, selection of rolls, and breads, fresh fruits, juices, and fresh coffee. I really enjoyed mt stay....Jerry...Paris Ontario..Canada
We have reserved the room 3 weeks in advance and when we arrived at 3:30, we were told the rooms were not ready. We had to wait an hour and when we asked, Ivette (manager) said "I'm sorry I forgot about you.", I would not stay in La Quinta again.
Everything that could go wrong did at this hotel. They ran out of apple juice bowls on the breakfast bar and their reply when told was "we're waiting for the truck". They double billed us for the first night. Our room wasn't serviced from the previous guests and apparently the front desk ddin't know or care and assigned us the room anyway. Some days it was after 5:00 Pm before we housekeeping got to our rooms. One day houseeeking didn't close and latch the room door leaving our room insecure. Complex lost power one night. The next morning the elevator was out of order. Front desk's reply to our call alerting them--it is? The diverter valve in the tub/shower needs replacement, could not regulate shower temp.
How did this place get a TripAdvisor award for 2012?
First the positive: good location because its only 10 min by car to go downtown New Orleans. We liked the layout of the room because you can sit on both sides of the table. Bathroom is very small though.
The negative: probably extremely noisy when the hotel is full. shower faucets are extremely difficult to regulate the temperature.. Breakfast: boiled eggs are the only egg style every single day!
Only shampoo and soap for amenities. Asked for lotion and conditioner at the reception and the lady told us this hotels gives no lotion and conditioner. Coffee machine in roomdid not work. Reported to reception several times but it took them 3 more days and another complaint to send us a new coffee pot. Day 3 the toilet clogged and overflowed!! We called the reception and a maintenance man came quickly and somewhat mopped the floor. We went away for the day and when we came back to our room after 6pm, nobody made our room, bathroom floor still dirty, no towels. We called the reception and finally went to the reception to get fresh towels because there was no maid yet to clean the room. Some days later the maid did not give us a new roll of toiletpaper while there was only very little left. We had to go to the reception again to ask for it. We have been in many La Quinta hotels and we never ever stayed in one with so many issues to complain about. In fact we hardly ever write reviews, but we do read reviews, so this time it was our duty and we sincerely hope the management of this hotel takes this as a constructive criticism. We received compensation for the flooding toilet and inconvenience but we felt we had to write this to tripadvisor anyway.
