"Only if you are a kid in town to party"

I stayed here for work. The commute to the capitol complex was easy at 7AM. That's the best I can say about the hotel. No elevator but the desk clerk did offer to carry my bags up the stairs. I was on my own at checkout. Each bed had a visible indention in the middle of it. WiFi was available but no ethernet cable. The bathtub was visibly built up with a sign that said be aware of the height and a grab bar. Stepping in was fine, stepping out slippery was a little challenging! This La Quinta does have smoking rooms. The room I stayed in faced i-35 and I heard traffic noise all night long. Very small but Very Cheap room!

"Nice Location in Austin"

We stayed at the La Quinta in North Austin and it was just about the best location for any place we went this weekend. There is a great restaurant right in front of this location that serves a great breakfast menu. Amaya's Taco Village. Great food, fantastic service. We found this La Quinta an excellent choice.

"Just a dump"

While I understand that the area does sell out a great deal on the weekends, this was a last minute stay for us. I asked to see a room prior to paying for it, the clerk ( he would not share his name, nor was he wearing a name tag) refused, and said if you dont like it, I will refund your money. I reied reachoing out the General Manager at this property on four separate occassions prior to writing this email, his email is "not available" and his voicemail box is full, so I can not leave a messgae. My apologies upfront, but when we walked to ourroom we were almost acosted by 3 men sharing a room on the first floor, safety is not gauranteed at this property. The main problem was walking into the room, as we caught a same sex mal couple engaged in intimacy, we walked out, when to the front desk and the agent said he would give us another room, I refused and asked for a refund, he stated he would not do that. So we left, needless to say this was an extremely poor sowing of customer service, and no effort at all for client recovery from a bad experience. My fiance and I will no longer use this brand of hotels anywhere again based on this expereince, and will contact my banking institution to resolve this matter directly..

"Shabby for a La Quinta"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Mar 14, 2014

This was a perfectly good place to rest your head for the night, but it was not a nice hotel by any stretch of the imagination. This is actually a motel -- all the rooms are accessible through an outside door, so you may not want to stay here if that is a concern of yours. First, let's start with the first impression. It was slightly disappointing to pull up to a La Quinta branded hotel and see this place. It was shabby on the outside. Maybe a paint job or something might spruce it up a little bit. The lobby was sort of drab. Rooms: Like I said, all rooms (except a couple off the lobby) had outside access doors, like a motel. I am not even sure if there is an elevator, so if you can't climb stairs, you may have to request a ground floor room. My room had a window that was facing Interstate 35, so it was very noisy. Even if the interstate wasn't there, there is a restaurant that shares the parking lot with this hotel and there was noise from the dumpsters being slammed and other people noises (cars, car doors opening/closing, people talking, etc). There were also a lot of birds in the parking lot that were also quite noisy. So, I'd recommend some ear plugs! The window pane is really thin so it was almost as if the window was open, I could hear so much outside. Now, the room I had was pretty clean. It did not smell stale, or of smoke. There were some patchy kind of places on the bathroom ceiling and the bathtub, in addition to having about a 3-foot high step up to get into, was kind of dirty-ish, but not disgusting. The bed linens were clean and smelled fairly neutral. I was comfortable sleeping. The room had the standard window AC/Heater and it worked just fine. A couple other positives: The room has a mini fridge and microwave, which I didn't use, but worth mentioning. Also, the TVs had "white noise" when you first turned them on, so you could choose a moonlight beach scene with ocean noises, a rain forest, and one other nature sound that I can't quite remember now. But it was kind of nice. Another positive is the free breakfast each morning. The selection isn't vast. It was the same every day during my 4-day stay: 2 kinds of cereal, 2 kinds of yogurt, bagels, individual packed waffles (you could toast them), muffins, oatmeal, coffee, tea, apple juice, orange juice, milk (2%), and an array of condiments including jelly, cream cheese and peanut butter. Also fresh bananas and apples. I was here for the SXSW conference and it was not a hotel on the official shuttle route, but it was just a short walk to the next hotel over, America's Best Value Inn (which looked like the EXACT same hotel). Overall, it was just an ok hotel. I wish I had read these reviews before blindly picking the hotel on name alone. As other reviewers said, it is not one of the nicer La Quintas you'll stay in. But it got the job done, I was safe, I slept fairly well and I was pleased (all things considered) with the condition of the room. I will rate the Service as Excellent, because we didn't really interact with the staff that much, but when we did, they were very nice and accommodating. I actually had to print something off, and they didn't have printing services but they offered to print it for me if I emailed it to them. So that was nice. I am rating the Value as Poor because I traveled during SXSW and I believe they gouged the prices for this hotel. I paid in the neighborhood of $380 a night for this junker.
