"no hot water; no compensation"
Reviewed May 14, 2013

I was one of the lucky guests to have no hot water over the April 5-6 weekend. As most of us did, I filled out the scrap of paper "so the owner could contact us each individually". Well, having not heard a word I called today only to discover the were offering a 20% discount gift certificate. A hotel with no hot water is worth at best half the room rate, if anything at all.
I've written the corporate office, and will share my disgust with all my Whittie and wine friends, and never stay again. Hopefully I can find out the name of the owner, or the manager who came up with this insulting "offer" so they can hear about this directly.
This is an old hotel that needs serious upgrades. Our room was on the lower level with a kitchenette from the 1950's. The guest upstairs walked around all night and the floors creaked with each and every step; it sounded like the popcorn ceiling would fall in at any minute. The worst was the terrible odor of either mold or old cigarettes embedded in the rug, furniture and everything else in the room. The price of this room was $152 per night!
Just stayed the weekend here. When I checked in, was greeted courteously. The room I was given even though I had booked a month prior, was right behind the front desk. It wasn't like I just showed up and they gave me the last room available. There were doors all around the room and an ice machine, I immediately went out to the front desk to ask if I could be moved to another room knowing it was going to be very noisy outside my room. I was told there wasn't another room available. She said if I did have problems to not to hesitate to call the front desk and hopefully they could move e the next day. That night was a nightmare! I was awakened all night and from about 0500 on could not sleep a wink. If it wasn't the ice machine, it was every suitcase on wheels that went by my room. There was tile instead of carpet in the hall outside so every pair of heels was heard as well. Then at 0500 a door outside squeaked non stop opening and closing, I even turned the fan on all the way to help drown out the noise but still could heat that door nonstop. finally called the front desk because I was so tired of not being able to sleep. She was very apologetic and stated that she would get maintenance to look into and try to get me moved. They did get me moved the next day and was a lot more quiet. The bed was comfortable, which was nice.
The other negative was that there wasn't a lift, so had to carry my suitcase and the cases of wine I purchased up and down the stairs.
They did provide continental breakfast that was descent.
I think they should have tried to compensate me for the night of hell. I could have stayed at another hotel and actually got sleep.
We stayed at this hotel while visiting our son, the staff was very friendly, front desk and housekeepers. The hottub was very dirty with green/yellow suds around edge, we told the fd and they quickly had maintenence clean it, Bkfst was Great, included Biscuits and Gravy, we were here for 5 days and enjoyed our stay, and got a awesome rate :)
This is one of the few hotels in Walla Walla that accept dogs - and it is the normal La Quinta clean facility. We have stayed here twice before, and were disappointed both times, but this time was much better as we knew to request a room on the second floor. The facility is poorly designed for access, and rooms can involve quite a bit of stair climbing, especially on the first floor. We travel with two large dogs, and one is elderly, making stairs a bit harder for her. The hotel is sited on a small rise, and to enter with a luggage cart or a wheelchair means parking in front of the main entrance. There is no elevator. However, this stay was pleasant as we requested and received a room on the second floor. The young woman at the desk was extremely nice, she worked Friday and Saturday night and then doubled back. I wish I could remember her name, as she deserves a personal kudo. The breakfast included the usual, plus sausages and biscuits and gravy. The location is wonderful, quite close to downtown, and with easy freeway access.
