"Fine for a night"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 6, 2014

The hotel is out of town, older and yes on the pricier side. With that said, it was clean, dog friendly, and they got us in with no reservation. For a tired traveler just needing a place to sleep it is fine. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was enough to get us going for the day.

"$ 150 per night for this? Really?!"

Don't stay here. Vey small claustrophobic room with one queen bed. One chair. No table. Desk and desk chair. No light bulb in the desk lamp. Tear in the sheers on the window. View of weeds and dried up plants through window. The office is on the 2nd floor which is at street level so the 1st floor ( where our room was located) was in what I would describe as the "basement". The room was so warm ( even though the outside temperature was in the low 60's) that it was necessary to run the very loud window air conditioner all night. There is no door at the entrance to the bathroom so it is impossible to use the sink area without disturbing your partner if you need to use it at night. There is a door between the sink area and the toilet and shower. Those are all the cons (other tan the $150.00 price tag (with taxes). Here are the pros: Gentleman at the desk gave us a very pleasant welcome. Room was clean Nice big screen T.V. (Thank goodness) Refrigerator and microwave A much greater appreciation of Holliday Inns and Best Westerns!

"Another Great La Quinta visit but no elevator"
4 of 5 stars Reviewed Jun 25, 2014

Friends and I were traveling south from Portland and were happy to spot a La Quinta to spend the night. Beds were so very comfy and appreciated the refrigerator and microwave. Only BUT is that we were on the 1st floor and it was downstairs with no elevator to access the rooms. Being 5' tall it was quite a hassle to lug down my suitcase and carry on down the stairs and then again up in the morning. It wasn't mentioned when we made the reservations by phone or upon registering. Might have been a problem if we had mobility issues.

"Run away"
1 of 5 stars Reviewed Jun 25, 2014

Really, I don't know where to start to explain why this is not a good choice. I guess I'll begin with the price, which is pretty high for a tiny room (seriously, there's barely room for a bed and a desk and we had to stand the luggage up in order to get to the window). Ours was in the basement, which is 15 long stairs (no elevator) down which to carry suitcases, across from a really noisy utility room that hummed all night long and was very loud through the flimsy door. The only way to get the A/C to work was with a key card, but that also turned on the only bright light in the room, so there was no A/C when it was time to sleep. The window was level with a patch of dirt (basement room, yay) that boasted a really impressive crop of weeds but didn't allow in any air, so it was kind of pointless. The only way to get cold water from sink was to first flush the toilet (no, I don't know why, I just discovered it by accident after I got tired of waiting for hot water to stop coming out of the cold tap) and there was no hot water in the shower until morning, even though it was plentiful at the sink (nope, I didn't mistake hot and cold taps, because I checked every setting and it was fine in the morning). The bed was horrible, soft, squishy and unsupportive, with cheap linens and lumpy pillows. The bathroom was dingy and the carpet smelled bad. Every step the people above us took was audible. Between the stuffy room and the bad bed, I barely slept, not something you want when you have to drive a few hundred miles the next day. Ashland is a terrific town, with a great park and some stellar choices for food and beverages and pretty much any other hotel choice would be ten times (at least) better than the La Quinta.

"La Quinta Ashland"

We always stay at La Quinta when we go to Ashland. It is clean and comfortable with a helpful, friendly staff. A great value! It's right off the highway but I've never heard any highway noise. They have an indoor pool that you can use, even in the winter (I think).
