"Our last goodbye to an old and worn facility."
2 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 19, 2014

On June 22nd we arrived about 6:00 p.m. with confirmed reservation. There were three people behind the front desk laughing and enjoying one another's company and almost ignoring our presence. The leader of this group became extremely hostile in dealing with our presence. (This person has been terminated.) We were assigned a "smoking" room with such a strong odor that it drifted outside when the door was opened. A kind employee (a housekeeper) found a non-smoking room for us. On our return trip (July 15th) home there was no difficulty checking in. However, the "hot" water never became very hot, and it took long minutes to reach our faucets. The room was barely adequate. For many summers we have made this LaQuinta our stop between Houston and Colorado ... going and coming. These last two stays are our last. Staying at this facility is a crap shoot, and we no longer will pay for poor quality. We wish it were not this way.

"Not the BEST La Quinta"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Jul 15, 2014

We've stayed at this location twice on this road trip mainly because we like to stay at La Quinta as much as we can because they are all pet friendly. This one is rather old, you'll park outside of your room, but the staff is super friendly. And, if you're going to avail yourself of the LEGENDARY Big Texan Restaurant, they have a FREE limo to take you there. It's clean and easy to get to. It's far enough away from the road so that it is not noisy, but DON'T get an upstairs room if you're old or infirm (we're both 65+), because they don't have an elevator. They do honor discounts, though --- so if you're looking for a low-priced stay that is clean and easily accessible, this place is a good bet.

"Trying the La Quinta West next time..."

We choose the La Quinta East to be closer to the Big Texas Restaurant. The place is rather tired and dated. It definitely could use an update. We staying in the back of the motel which was rather was rather a long way from the front lobby. It was quiet and provided a good place to walk our small dog. The breakfast was just the usual and nothing to write home about. I think we will be trying the other La Quinta in Amarillo the next time we pass through.

"Horrible experience."

Had a reservation I made a month in advance and paid for the room in advanced. I called a couple of times to confirm. When we arrived at the hotel we were told they overbooked and we had no room. There were 20 people displaced. When asking the clerk what happened she said I was frustrating her and she had to walk away before she said or did something we would both regret. I was very shaken by her threat. I went over to the other LaQuinta location and had to pay again for a room. I called the headquarters and they apologized and said the lady was terminated. They did not offer any discount, etc for our troubles.

"Very pet friendly"

This was a great place to stay with our dogs. I was travelling with my parents and we both had dogs. We were given rooms next to one another and around others travelling with dogs. The staff seemed genuinely concerned that everything was to our liking. This hotel is right off I-40 and close to gas stations and restaurants, which was very convenient. Also, breakfast was good, especially the coffee.
