"Overpriced, noisy and not clean enough"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 30, 2014

How this hotel got such high ratings, I do not know. Firstly, the lobby is very nice. Feels like an fine old lodge. But, you don't spend much time in the lobby. Front desk reception is inadequately staffed outside of business hours. The weekend we stayed, the hotel was packed and there was only one young girl responsible for the entire hotel, early evening on a Saturday. The room was very dark, even with all the lights on. It overlooked a parking lot on the opposite side of the river. It was noisy, both in the room (fridge vibrated 24/7) and outside of the room. We were on the top floor, thankfully so no one was banging above us. Could hear the people next to us day and night, both in their room and when they were in the hallway. When they knocked on their door, it sounded like they were knocking on our door. We were about five rooms down from the elevator, but it still sounded like the elevator was across from us. Toilet blocked twice over a three night stay. Room was kept clean over our stay. There were signs that it wasn't being deeply cleaned though. Will try to upload a picture. Washing machines and dryers were filthy, full of hairs. The laundry room itself was clean enough and the machines were reasonably priced. Breakfast was adequate. Nothing special. Out of Costco bags type of food. Parking and location were fine. Pool small but fine. Would not stay here again.

"Clean and quiet with some problems"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 29, 2014

This hotel has an energy saving system in which you place your keycard to start the air-conditioning. However, I arrive around 8PM after a hot day and the suite was 79 degrees! The air conditioner is in the king bedroom and the front living area has a fan system to bring some of the cooler air into that room. So the bedroom is freezing in order to get the front area comfortable - very poor design. In addition, the air conditioning unit was really dirty and I cleaned it myself. The air coming out smelled musty but maintenance stated it smelled like cold air to him!! I was traveling with a pet and there were pet stains in the room and pointed this out to housekeeping which stated that they had been so busy that they had not had time to clean the carpets. They did do this for me which greatly increased the comfort of the room but did not remove all the stains. There was a cooking unit in the suite but since the hotel is fazing them out, there were no cooking utensils!! They did find me some beaten up utensils that were adequate. There seemed to be a shortage of dish towels (which were old and worn) and dishtowels and no dish soap. There was no toaster either. The refrigerator and microwave worked well. The breakfast was mediocre and the same every day and it was usually difficult to find just plain oatmeal. The breakfast room is closed and locked when not open. The business center is as well so you have to ask for a key every time you want to use it since there was only one computer. There is a shredder which I found helpful. My business set this hotel up for ten days. La Quintas tend to have fresh smelling rooms in general possibly because you can open the window wide open for fresh air. I was told the pet rooms were on the first and second floor and I was on the second floor. You do hear guests above you but very little water sounds. Overall it was a very quiet room other than that and I only heard the television next to me one time. The beds are very comfortable. I agree with other reviewers that the duvet is boiling hot and the sheet not warm enough. I asked for a blanket and got what appeared to be a bedspread but it worked. I also agree that some housekeepers do nothing more than make the bed (and not all that well) and replace the towels. They will not clean your room if your dog is there or not in a crate. My dog is very agreeable and small so some housekeepers just came in and closed the crate door. The kitchen and bathroom sinks were not cleaned the entire stay except when I requested. The room was cleaned the best when I was there and requested vacuuming and full service. This housekeeper was extremely helpful and did a grate job. Overall the staff is very friendly and helpful and it was a pleasure to deal with the - other than the maintenance man. There were several negatives which I eventually adapted to and I would stay here again if necessary only if I were traveling without a pet and could request a third floor room. The location is really good - close to the Saturday Market and across from a park to walk your pet. It is as well in a quiet location and I could not hear street noise from my room. I did not pay for my stay but felt that the fee I heard quoted was very high for the quality of the rooms.

"Love the park next to hotel"
3 of 5 stars Reviewed Aug 28, 2014

We always stay at La Quinta because we love the no hassle pet policy & enjoy getting a free room now & then with the rewards. This was the second time we've stayed at the hotel & were very comfortable, happy w our room, love the park next door, etc. however were really disappointed w the wifi. We could rarely get on the hotel's wifi & if we did it was super slow. I ended up using the personal hotspot on my IPhone the majority of the time since the hotel's connection was so bad. Other than that & the problem of the guests above us that checked in at midnight & let their kids stomp & run around for a couple hours we were good. Not really the hotel's fault, basically just thoughtless people...
