"Don?t do it! No amount of comps will fix this."

Alas ? I knew it would eventually happen. :-( We stay in LQ?s EVERY TIME we travel and we?ve been fortunate enough to have had pretty great experiences - up until now. ***Please note: this review is split into 2 parts. One is for the hotel (structure) itself and should not be a reflection of the wonderful people working here. And the other is for the people that work so hard here to make visitors stay as pleasurable as possible. But if at all possible, I strongly urge you to pay the extra money and stay somewhere other than here. Just my opinion. and just to be fair, the front office did offer to move me to a smaller room. But it was on the first floor and we were worried about all of the seedy people walking around that someone would break in to our room so we opted for the dirty higher floor room. I?ll keep this short and bullet point the highlight and lowlights of my stay. ***NOTE: If you do have a problem, please give management an opportunity to make it right. They?re great people and will do what they can for you. Unfortunately, it didn't help in my situation.
Let?s start with the bad.
Room 218 is beat down! Out dated and heavily used. Many, many war wounds on this room.
The room overall was dirty. I literally spent 2 hours cleaning and wiping down things before I could relax and unpack after an 8 hour drive. :-(
Sticky dust bunnies all over the alarm clock and lamps.
Hair everywhere. In the tub. On the entry way floor. In the bathroom sink. By the toilet. No kidding when I say EVERYWHERE!
The toilet rocks against the wall when you sit down and get up. Imagine sitting down and the toilet rocks forward. Then when you get up, BOOM! It rocks back and you get a loud boom.
The TV didn?t work. Although the front desk did come up and address this. James is AWESOME ? So we ended up having 2 remotes to work the TV the entire stay.
The wall desk was HUGE and bowed in 2 places. The room set up in general is an epic fail.
Furniture had broken or torn/chipped corners and scratched surfaces.
Stains on the sitting chair and sofa pillows. We didn?t use these pieces AT ALL!
The location is bad, bad, bad. Seedy part of town. Lots of ?undesirables? in the area. Don?t let your guard down for one minute when outside of the hotel.
Busy Abercorn Street. Road noise, traffic noise and "thug" noise is nonstop. We saw 3 police traffic stops in the hotel parking lot just as we were checking out.
Lots of general labor workers staying here during my stay and their trucks took up the vast majority of the parking.
Seedy ?thuggish? people here. I saw a guy walking around in the hotel all week with nothing but a pair of shorts on using the business center and talking on the phone.
Noisy kids, noisy kids, noisy kids. People just don?t look after their kids here. (not a reflection of the management staff)
One elevator. Fail
All of the Executive King Suites are right next to the elevators and ice and concessions machines. You will hear people getting ice at all times of the night.
One elevator. And all of the executive king suites are right by the one elevator. Fail.
Bugs. We had one in our room on the blinds and I saw a roach in the stair way. I stepped on it and killed it. Your Welcome La Quinta.
Let?s end with the good!
James at the front desk is amazing! James is Southern Hospitality in the flesh!
Hugh is a great General Manager that will go out of his way to make things right. He?s a real good guy.
Kathy is as pleasant as sweet iced tea.
Abercorn has lots of stores and businesses if you need anything - and I do mean ANYTHING.
I apologize to the staff of this hotel, but I cannot recommend this hotel to ANYONE nor can i give a positive review of it. We just had so many problems. And it is because of this, I will probably never return to Savannah. Best of luck in your recovery.
I stayed here recently & the customer service was excellent. I was greeted by Kathy and she was extremely helpful. I was already familiar with the area, but the location of the hotel made everything easily accessible for me. The food was great, the cleanliness of the room was amazing. Overall, a great experience. I will be staying here again during my next trip to Savannah.
Once again I stayed at Southside La Quinta, and my stay was excellent~!!! The personnel are excellent, especially Krystal~! This was my second stay, and when I return to Savannah, I will definitely stay again.
My husband and I (both seniors) again decided on another road trip, this time driving from Ontario, Canada to Savannah Georgia where we were going to begin a Civil War Road Trip. La Quinta Inns have always been our favourite choice and this hotel did not disappoint. The moment we walked in the door and where greeted by James we knew the next three days would be perfect. James was so welcoming and friendly and our check in was seamless, we gave him our confirmation number and within 10 minutes we were moving our luggage into our room. After a very short period of time we received a call confirming everything was to our liking and James told us to contact the desk anytime should we need anything. Late that afternoon we went to the front desk and received recommendations for places to have supper within walking distance and instructions on getting to downtown Savannah the next day for sightseeing and where to park. This La Quinta is further from downtown but well worth the extra few minutes driving. The free hot/cold breakfast in the morning is a wonderful way to start the day; the three days we stayed here we chose something different each morning, all fresh and enjoyable. Each time we passed the desk we were warmly greeted with smiles from James, Kathy, and Jennifer - they would inquire each time if we were enjoying ourselves, if we needed anything or if there was something they could help with. Surprisingly the afternoon before we were going to leave and continue our road trip my husband did tell James our GPS died on the way there and we would probably have a difficult time finding our way around the Civil War Trail.... immediately James and Jennifer checked the front desk area for a ups cord that would fit our GPS and James was volunteering to reset the system on his laptop. Sadly no cord could be found so he suggested we take the unit to Radio Shack down the street for help. James does not know this as we got back after his shift and he was off the next day but Radio Shack employee (see separate review) was able to download our maps and reset the unit. Thank you James you are the best, you went above and beyond your "job". La Quinta states in their mission statement that they have two goals and they never change: "Live our core values, which are inspired by our people: PEOPLE - PASSION -INTEGRITY - EXCELLENCE - UNIQUE" "Delight our guests with an experience that makes them feel: ASSURED - SETTLED IN - OPTIMISTIC" James you did all of that and more. And I would be remiss on not mentioning Jennifer and Kathy also for their help, also Hugh Osborne the General Manager for helping us with a glitch when checking out we were uncertain if we had the proper reservations for our next stop in Charleston, SC. Hugh assured us not to worry and that as we traveled toward our next La Quinta stop he would call ahead and make sure everything was perfect. And thank you Hugh everything was perfect and we loved the king room and early check in. I can not say enough great things about this hotel except that the staff I mentioned make your stay go above and beyond any expectations you could have. We will be back, thank you so much.
I hesitate to post anything negative about any of the LaQuinta motels where we've stayed. They are all super clean, super friendly, and pet friendly. This is one of the most important aspects of this chain. No pet charge, and this particular motel had a doggie treat bag ready for our Buddy. I do wish they had a larger bathroom area for the dogs, but they do provide baggies for cleanup. I understand this is a motel in a very big tourist town, but I wasn't happy when I was charged almost double my Thursday night charge for staying a Friday also. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't work, and even though this is a small complaint, the same problem happened at our last LaQuinta visit in another town. I will highly recommend this motel to all my pet loving friends, and others as well.
