"So so in New Haven"

The hotel is in a good spot for travelers at the interchange for 95 and 91 with easy access. The room was clean and orderly. The 5th floor corridor smelled of stale smoke. Free wifi and breakfast were very good.
We stayed for two nights when visiting Newhaven. The Hotel is only a couple of miles from the centre of town, near the freeway. There was a nice Italian restaurant a few yards away where we ate both nights and a Greek restaurant in the same building. Rooms were a good size, comfortable and clean. The complimentary Wi-Fi was reliable.
The rooms were a good price but we were awake both nights once caused by a rough woman speaking for over an hour on her cell phone in the corridor outside the door of our room and on the second night by a group of young people who appeared to be drunk on the floor above. I guess this is what happens when you stay at a low price.
Rooms (non-smoking) smelled like smoke . . . Front-desk not helpful . . . loud people . . . not a "classy" hotel at all . . . I suppose it's true that "you get what you pay for" . . . but even so this was not worth what I paid . . . Pay a little more and get a little better quality . . .
If you happen to be like me, a savvy, bargain-hunting FOOL, you'll probably book this room. You'll think, "Jeez, the price is so good, and we're only staying in New Haven for one night, it won't be so bad", but you're wrong, so wrong. My fiancé and I were in utter shock and disbelief the whole fifteen minutes we spent here. When we walked i , we were greeted with the world's most unfriendly front desk agent, who after some cajoling, informed us that we were in an ?unsafe? part of New Haven--she was a real gem, I wish I could remember her name. Now, about the hotel, at first glance, it looked ok, but was clearly designed for short people with narrow shoulders. The doorways are extremely small, the roomy elevator can awkwardly fit you and three strangers, the ceilings are low, and in case you have a hard time making the difficult climb into a normal bed, theirs are conveniently located 4 inches up from the floor. Needless to say, we left our keys in the room, and ran far away to a nicer place. Spend the extra cash and get yourself a nice place.
We stayed here for 2 nights. The bedding was clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. The complimentary breakfast was adequate and the room was big enough for the number of guests. It is a bit tired in places, but nothing terrible.
