"First disappointing experience at a La Quinta"

I was in town for a professional golf tournament at Raintree CC. I was planning on staying for a week, but ended up checking out after one night. I travel with my two dogs and have never ever had a complaint about them barking. This is actually the first time we checked out of a hotel and left. We got called to come immediately back to our hotel b/c our dogs were barking. The pet friendly rooms are all together and there were a lot of dogs barking in that wing. If other dogs are barking..my dogs may bark too. I guess it was a pet owner who called to complain, which is really weird. As a dog owner, I would never complain about another dog unless it was keeping me up at night. So..if you are traveling with a pet..think about going elsewhere as this is a very noisy hotel. They could have made nearly $500 from me. Upon checking out, the staff was very rude..until my boyfriend talked to the manager.
Also, breakfast was taken down before 9am. The lady taking it down was very rude when I asked for a slice of bread. It was 8:57. Anyways...the hotel is clean and has a nice fitness room..but dont bring your dog here! They are NOT pet-friendly! oh and there is absolutely no where to walk your dog if you like to take them for a real walk/jog. bad neighborhood!
Good value for a hotel in this area - close to the airport, quiet, and cheap. The hallways were pretty smoky smelling, as there doesn't seem to be any segregation of smoking and non-smoking rooms (can't really tell if any are non-smoking).
Biggest downer: asked for a 6:30 wake up call. Fifteen minutes later, my phone rang. It was the front-desk clerk asking me again for the wake up call time. You guessed it: no wake up call.
Good value for an overnight stay in Charlotte -- if you bring your own alarm :)
I thought we had the perfect place. The staff was great, both rooms were clean, nice location... so we thought. We we arrived we spoke with the "security" person about the broken lock on the side door and the security lights were not on. The lights didn't go on until almost 10:30 at night. Everytime we took our little dog there was the security person sitting in the lounge. Consequently on the last day of our 4 night stay, both of our cars and 2 others were broken into. Over $7000.00 worth of damage and stolen property from our two cars alone. But, they can't predict when crimes will happen, however, if the security person was doing his job it might not have happened. I'm not saying it wouldn't of happened but the chances of someone walking the property regularly would make it less likely to happen..

The rooms were nice. It was clean. It was wonderful. The staff were very helpful. We were traveling and didn't check in until 2am. They gave us the best rate they possible could since we were checking out the same day and they moved our check out to a later time than usual. The location allowed us to go completely around Charlotte and avoid the traffic. The only thing lacking was the breakfast and the parking upfront. The breakfast was very good but I wish they had more of a selection. Also their tables are down a couple steps. They had one on the same level but it was taken. My dad has trouble with stairs so it was difficult for him to get up and down them. Also, I wish they had more canopy parking in the front. It was poring down the rain and their airport shuttle was parked right in the middle of the canopy. My dad who has trouble with stairs had to stand in the poring rain to get into the car. They should remodel this one or two things and it would be an excellent hotel!
We enjoyed our stay in the hotel. We had stayed in several La Quinta hotels and our experiences have been always good. The room was clean and the staff was great. We missed our plane so we had to spend the night in Charlotte, NC. We were picked up by the shuttle bus and we driven to the hotel. The driver and the desk attendant where very pleasant and courteus and made us feel very welcomed. The location was close to the Airport so it was perfect for us.
