The employees at this hotel are just wonderful. Room wasnt the cleanest.......But It was clean! Carpet had a few cigerette holes in it, but the linens, beds, and bathroom was all clean. Breakfast was good......waffles, OJ, apple juice, coffee, fresh apples, hard boiled eggs, toast and bagels. Swimming pool area was very big, nice and clean. Sanibel Island is to your left, Fort Myers beach to the right and if you keep going down the street near the hotel, there is a beach (you have to pay to park). Had plenty of towels in the room. My only complaint is not about the hotel itself, but some of the folks that stay there. My car was hit while parked in the parking lot and the ladies that hit it ran off, but the honest staff and great guest that stayed there did get some information that I will hope to catch these people. Brand new 2013 car that now needs major body work...........All in all this place was wonderful!!!! I will be returning!
We received a great value for the rates paid at this hotel. The accomodations were nice as well as the large pool area. The breakfast offered was also a good value and very convenient for the guests. The staff was friendly and helpful. We wil be staying here in the future, as the rates are reasonable and it is situated in a quieter area of Fort Myers.
Try to stay at a La Quinta everywhere I travel......have never had a bad experience !! Top notch.......Especially like Sanibel Gateway property. Stay there every time I go to Sanibel/Captiva. Tremendous value, great room and amenities. Would recommend to any one visiting this area.
Dirty, dirty, dirty.... We walked barefoot on the carpet in our room, and our feet turned black. Ugh! Very dated, poorly designed, poor breakfast, obviously we won't be back.
You have to walk the length of the building to get to your room (ours was in the center), because there's a railing blocking all access except at the end of the building. Why they didn't open the rails for center access I don't understand. Very inconvenient.
There seems to be dirt (or soot) everywhere, which is apparently why our feet got so dirty. And there was a doggie type of smell - they allow pets.
We stayed for two days in April and found this hotel convenient to Sanibel Island which was our destination. We were booked late and could not find reasonable accommodations on the Island, this is a great alternative. The breakfasts are the usual for this type of hotel, nothing to rave nor complain about. The pool is exceptionally large as is the relaxing hot tub. I liked the eating area outside the hotel which we enjoyed with some takeout from the store and restaurant nearby. Great helpful staff at the front desk.
