"Friendly Staff, Rundown Property"
Reviewed Dec 2, 2013

First, the good news: the staff was friendly.
The bad news: this property looks much better from the outside than the inside.
We stayed for three nights in a fourth floor "apartment" that was shoddily remodeled and felt dirty. There were places where you could see the original wall covering and ancient baseboards, and the kingsize bed had a big uncomfortable bump down the center, like a speed bump, leading one to wonder if it was two twin beds shoved together?
The three room suite had just one non-working phone and the light switches were either nonfunctional or hidden in strange places.
The fourth night we moved to a smaller two-room suite with a better kingsize bed. It seemed to have been remodeled and was intended for families, with a bunk bed in the second room, but unfortunately, the sliding "French door" between rooms was old and jammed, trapping my panicked child in the unventilated second room until we could summon a hotel employee to help get him out.
Hotel amenities include a modest free continental breakfast with cramped seating and a small outdoor pool in the parking garage. LaQuinta does not, however, charge extra for parking, and that's a good thing.
The takeaway? There are far too many other nice hotels in the Anaheim area within walking distance of Disney to settle for this one! Skip it now and thank me later.
We booked this trip through the La Quinta website. Booked in advance, price was fair. The check in was speedy and smooth. The room was huge!! Included flat screen tv's(2), fridge, huge closet and pull out sofabed in adjoining living room type area. Continental breakfast stayed replenished. We had a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids (16, 13, 10). Plenty of room and an easy walk to park.
Would I return here. Probably. Was it the best hotel experience ever? Mehhhh.
The good: typical La Quinta pet policy...no extra charge. The room was spacious. A double suite meaning two double beds in one room with a flat screen tv, with an attached room (sliding door/curtains) with a sofa bed, and another flat screen tv. Reasonably clean. Bedding very clean, bed comfortable. Friendly front desk staff. The anaheim shuttle that goes to disney is directly behind the hotel, and the front desk sells tickets for the shuttle. Parking seemed reasonable while I was there, but it is the shoulder season as opposed to the middle of summer. It isn't a huge parking lot, though there is garage parking (free). They do ask that you only have one car per room though, otherwise you have to pay to park it elsewhere. Wifi was reasonably fast. I used the printer at the front desk without any complications. Using the shuttle, it's maybe a 5 minute ride to the parks...BUT, you do have to factor in time waiting for the shuttle.
The less than ideal: other reviews note that the walls are very thin. I've stayed in lots of hotels of varying qualities, and feel like I have a realistic expectation for noise in hotels. If you're staying here, note that I'm fairly certain the rooms don't have double pane windows, so expect parking lot noise (truck back up noises, car alarms, etc). Also, as noted in another review, being on the second floor means there is some more foot traffic to the breakfast area, and some kid noise from the breakfast area. There were a couple of screaming babies, and boisterous kids.
The good/less than ideal all in one place: this was a more expensive la quinta than I usually stay in...so it seemed pricey. But I also shopped around for hotel rooms, and their rates were competitive for anyone bringing a pet along on a trip. I think given the convenient location, the prices were fair. The room was pretty clean (note, bedding very very clean), but there were some small crusty weird stains on the carpet here and there. Emphasis on small.
Random notes: Breakfast consists of already made waffles, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, bagels/cream cheese, fruit, juice, coffee. The parking garage does have a height limit, which wasn't an issue for me...but was an issue for a customer ahead of me who wasn't particularly nice to the front desk staff as a result. Might be worth calling ahead if you have a luggage carrier on top or a bike rack. The final note has nothing to do with a hotel, but is a good tip none the less. The shuttle behind the hotel is very, very convenient. But it did seem like in the evenings, it was less reliable as far as arrival times at the hotel...perhaps because of traffic or other delays. Had to wait forty minutes for one...it's supposed to be a twenty minute wait. BUT, you're saving your feet for all the walking between parks and if you're going to come back and forth to check on your pet during the day, it's worth it.
Ok safe place to stay overnight. If you're a traveler who wants the room to be a part of the vacation as opposed to just a place to crash, you might consider paying more and staying elsewhere.
We recently stayed for 4 nights midweek during our fall break. I had said I likely wouldn't come back but a lot of hotels were either booked for one of the nights or too expensive for what I wanted to pay. We settled on the Apartment suite which had a nice King bed and bunk beds in a separate room.
Likes, have stayed before so we know the ART system well and it was easy to get around. Breakfast is OK. Room had plenty of room for the 4 of us (Myself, wife, 12 and 10 year old). Nice TV's. Great front desk staff, was pretty clean and not a bad walk to Disney (Which we did one night)
Dislikes. Parking garage is very old. Breakfast room was very crowded. The hotel is a little older. Pool was nice, but out of towels and hot tub was only a couple of degrees warmer than the pool. Room did not have a good place to eat takeout in. It has a table for very little kids.
Overall, if you play to spend a lot of time at the hotel I would go elsewhere. If you are there to spend long days at Disney, go back take a shower, sleep eat and go back to Disney it's a good economical choice. With taxes our room was 460 for 4 nights for a 2 room suite. While we didn't utilize, there are good places to eat nearby and even a rental car company if you don't want a car every day but want to go to Universal or somewhere else. If you are used to the Sheraton or the Four Seasons you will hate it. If you are looking to save money for a couple of extra days at the park I would recommend.
Disney hotel number 4 for us. All the usuals were booked do we stayed here. Big mistake. Walls are paper thin. You hear everything. The walls and bed were literally shaking during the day. The shuttle to Disneyland is the ART which was really late. I called the front desk for a room change because of all the noise in the hall and they told me they couldn't help me. We did think of just leaving during the middle of the night. Other hotels in area are superior
