Family members have used this hotel often, so when our AC went out, we spent the night here. The cost was $122.55, $140.94 including taxes. Very high considering the value. The location is just south of Barton Creek Mall and not far from downtown, Zilker Park, Zach Theater and the Long Center. The hotel is on the frontage road of Mo-Pac. You must get off at the very first exit after the intersection with Loop 360. The front door made it look like a dump, but the furnishings in the modest lobby looked new and fresh. Landscaping is lovely and the equipment in the exercise room looked great. The room was spacious and the furniture was adequate and looked new. The beds were very comfortable, but the carpet needed to be shampooed. The blackout curtains were so good that I slept rather late. The bathroom was clean but spartan. No toiletries besides soap and shampoo. Although the tub was shallow, it was long enough to get a good soak. The breakfast was meager: no juice and no eggs except hard-boiled. No bacon or sausage. Skimpy muffins. At least I could have Cheerios, a sliced banana and milk (only one kind), so at least I wasn't hungry. I usually expect more from a La Quinta.
My wife and I recently stayed at this La Quinta while we were in town visiting family and friends. Since her family lives in South Austin and mine lives in North Austin, this hotels location was perfect for us. Quick access to Mopac and William Cannon.
My only complaint is that the toilet is way too low for old people and too shallow for the men.
This hotel is so cozy. The "Quinta" is beautifully overgrown with trees, foliage, and flowers. So calm and relaxing. We didn't get a chance to get in the pool for long because of the weather but it did have handicapped accessibility. The breakfast was a good selection of muffins, bagel toast, waffles, boiled eggs and cereal. The front desk workers were just beyond amazing! They made the stay worth while for sure. You won't find customer service like this many places. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the man who does the housekeeping. He knocks once, without saying who he is and then just opens the door. Happened both days we stayed. Thankfully we had the chain on, but the door still opens a couple inches. So that was unpleasant. But this was a great hotel! Great stay. They are also doing some upgrades to the hotel which is nice.
The grounds where very well maintained, as well as the hotel. I chose this hotel because it was "pet friendly". During my stay I saw several other pets, but there was absolutely no pet odor lingering. The hotel was very fresh.
This is a good overnight hotel for business travelers, as long as you don't want a hotel restaurant, a hotel bar, nor local room service (it's available from an 800 number). The grounds are nice and well kept. Breakfast is minimal, coffee, bagels, cereal, etc. For the price I would think you could do better :-) I have a problem with my room not locking properly (I can push the door open after letting it close), so be sure to check your door after closing. All in all not a bad hotel, but certainly nothing special.
