"Really Nice Stay"
Reviewed May 22, 2013

I'm going to be honest. I've never been a fan of The La Quinta brand. That said, I'm a fan of this particular location.
Several years ago, I think it used to be a Baymont I think.
Spent 3 nights there last week and was pleasantly surprised.
Staff and manager were super friendly.
My room was clean. If you read my reviews, you can tell that I'm OCD and that's a very big deal for me. Not a problem with my room. Spotless.
Internet worked fine while I was there.
Location is great. Easy to get to anything you need.
Didn't try the breakfast so no comments there.
Overall, I would highly recommend this place when you're in the Columbia area.
Our recent stay here was certainly adequate. The front desk was friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. But it needed more lighting than the shaded lamp between the beds and the small desk light. Tough to read in that environment. More than one chair would have helped, too. Towels were of good quality and water pressure was great. The continental breakfast, with hard-boiled eggs for protein, was average. We travel with dogs and finding a bit of grass was a challenge.
The outside of this hotel looked nice, so I was pretty excited when I met the wonderful clerk. Hotwire booked us as a king bed, despite our desire of two beds, but the accommodating attendant changed that, no problem.
The bathtub looked clean, but it had trim on the bottom which was stained with mold/mildew.
We were promised free internet but there was none. We tried to call the clerk to report the outage, but our phone was out of order. My daughter went down to the desk and reported the internet problem and the clerk said she would call the IT people and would have them call us. She told the clerk that our phone was not working, but the attendant offered no remedy. About an hour later the clerk came to the room door and reported that the router booster which would serve our room was located in a room below us and that the tenant there had unplugged it. There was nothing they could do about it, according the the clerk.
Because the clerk was on the phone when she exchanged our room, she did not take the time to change our information in the computer. Imagine our shock when hours later someone used a key and entered our room. When I shouted at them, stunned at being awakened, they shut the door and walked off without saying a word. I got up and went to the door but saw no one in the hallway. Of course I could not call the front desk since the phone did not work. I was too tired to walk downstairs so I reported the incident the following morning.
I told the day clerk about how unhappy I was with my stay and she said someone would call me. She confirmed that I was still listed as being in the original room and that no one was listed as occupying the room we slept in. I left the hotel at 7:30 in the morning. Now it is 9 hours later and I have still not received any call from the hotel.
While I really liked the friendly attendant, I am disappointed with my stay and was quite disturbed by someone with a key coming into my room in the early hours of the morning. I have stayed at La Quinta in the past and am resolved, as of this writing, to avoid staying at this chain in the future.
The most positive feature was that the beds seemed clean and were comfortable.
Construction made this hotel nearly inaccessible. It could only be reached by traveling southbound.
I travel quite often for work and stay at La Quinta regularly. This property did not "shine" like some others I have stayed at.
My stay at this La Quinta was for 12 days.
HOUSEKEEPING: The first thing I noticed was the poor housekeeping. Counters and sinks were not getting wiped down daily and vacuuming was spotty at best. Towels and linens were well stocked, however, as was the soap and shampoo. Several times the in-room coffee supplies were skipped.
WI-FI: Great, when it worked. Many nights I spend on the phone with the front desk and tech support having routers and servers reset. The equipment needs to be updated!
BRIGHT SIDE BREAKFAST: A carb-only affair, with the only exception being cold boiled eggs. One of the reasons I choose La Quinta is the value-added by having breakfast there. The lack of protein options, poor quality of fruit and hit-and-miss hot coffee (sometimes its brewed and sometimes it's not) are problems that need to be addressed.
FRONT DESK: Very warm and welcoming. Helpful and apologetic too, but stretched thin. Additional staff could be used.
ROOM: Updated and well appointed. If housekeeping was on the ball, the rooms would be perfect! Not many channel selections on the TV though.
If I am in the area again, I will probably check out another option. If you are in town for a short stay it is fine and pet friendly!
April is a busy time in Columbia. MO, so book early. The front desk staff was very friendly, helpful, and did a great job with all the people coming and going while I was there. I stay here twice a year and this was the best stay yet.
